New Computer - games library is now reduced dramatically
I installed Steam on my new computer, but only have 5 games in my list now when it used to be many many more...why am I unable to see my entire library?

You must be on the wrong account.

Look at your recent activity. Last time before today was back in July 2013.

Search old emails maybe and find the correct login for the right account and log into the correct account.

No luck that way...seems like I've slowly evolved through Stardock, GameStop, EA and Steam...I know that as I progressed my games came with me and I did have one issue years ago with my account and needed to be updated, but have changed computers a couple times since then...from what I know, I've only got the one account, and have no evidence to suggest otherwise...

oh, and I normally run my games from a desktop shortcut, not through the Steam client...

We see this very often here. Users swear they have only one account, then it turns out they had another and sometimes two more accounts.

If your transaction and purchase history (not to mention recent activity in 2013 I mentioned) don't show the games, you are on the wrong account.

I know that I had a different account years ago, but eventually gave up Shaw cable and lost that email address...had to do a change to get my account back and Steam support did that for me...I do recall having to get a new email address a few years back though when I forgot my password, so as you suggest, perhaps that's the problem...so I will read how to determine and reclaim a lost account...thanks.

I see. I had no idea that it may be lost as you seem to suggest. Usually in these situations, the user simply made a mistake and logged into the wrong one.

Here is the support page that should help you. As long as you can show proof of ownership, that should not be a problem but ask support anyway. Maybe they will get you to prove it is your account another way.

I do have a hard copy of games and serial numbers printed off around here somewhere, so eventually I'll get it all fixed...looking at old emails I did find one receipt from GameStop - Impulse but that's going back about 3 years...perhaps these old games are too old now and probably won't work on Win 10 anyway...thanks for your help.
