GTA V download stuck at 15.9GB
Hi all

Anyone experience this yet? I bought GTA V a while back at the black friday sale. The game downloads perfectly fine until 15.9GB, then it only has little spikes of downloading that immediatly steps down to 0KB/s, until it deqeues itself for a minute or two then starts the pattern again.

I have tried to change the download region to multiple regions, removed the already downloaded files and started from scratch. All other games download just fine to the same HDD, so I doubt it is the disk?

I thought perhaps it is just server issues that will be fixed eventually but it has been far too long and it still does the same thing. I installed the rockstar social club installer that gets downloaded with the steam version, upon which it jumped to full speed for a few seconds then got stuck again.

I saw the same thing with Skyrim special edition but after a few days the download started working again. But alas this time it is not happening for me.

Anyone seen something similar and fixed it?

Any help is appreciated.

What about everything else on the support page, also linked in blue, concerning changing regions ?

How many regions did you try ? I have seen cases were many needed to be tried. Try some very far away from you also.

You'd be better looking here first - http://store.steampowered.com/stats/content/

Then, rather than just guessing, you can pick servers that are currently under low load.

That is pretty helpful. Thanks, as I was unaware of that.

There is actually a better page but I can't find it any more, it lists each server and shows a little bar detailing its load >_<

Thanks, this is interesting. But alas, I am in south africa and it doesn't seem to be under load much. I have also tried at least three regions on each continent. No change, so I believe something is going wrong on my PC itself with the downloaded files. My steam games folder is on a seperate HDD than the actual steam installation. Can this be a problem? it hasn't been historically for me. Perhaps, I can just use the CD key on steam and try to download it directly form Rockstar servers or something.

I think Steam is having issue with one or more of its data centers at the moment, I'm also suffering painfully slow downloads. I took a screenshot, as you can see, I'm not even getting 10% of my available bandwidth (200Mb).

@Kabba My brother is having the same problem, also in South Africa.

We have tried changing download regions etc. but every time the download stops at 15.9gb and we have to restart.

Have you found any fix yet?

Nothing yet mate, sorry. The only other relevant thing i've seen is a forum post on rockstar's site that has the same issue but no one has replied to that post. I fear this is some issue between steam and rockstar. Wish I knew more about it, I mean, does steam have the game files on their own servers or is it sort of a passthrough from rockstar's own servers.

But if I do find a way to fix it I'll let you know!

How many different regions have you tried ? Strange that it seems to affect so many users but the region change does not seem to help.

Try all the regions, if you must, to fully test that possibility.
