Ok... I'm tired of it. Terraria won't open up!
When I click play on terraria it says Terraria - Running on the side of where my games are. I've done almost everything I can think of with the help of others. I've ran Terraria as administrater, done that xna thing, I've reinstalled Terraria. NOTHING IS WORKING! I know this should be in the Terraria section of the forums, but I really want help with this!

I thought you disabled Avast ? Are you sure you have realtime exceptions for Avast for Steam and games ?

And it needs to be real-time active scanning exceptions, not passive scans that you do manually there. This is very important.

What is that BTDevelopment Manager for ?

Any "manager" and "updater" programs that run in the background, depending on what they are managing and updating, can be suspect. You may not need alot of that stuff running when you game, as it just harms system performance anyway.

Saw a thread here once where the user said his printer processes was causing Steam to crash/not work correctly/not work at all. So look at those also.

There is a problem....Skype Updater. I suggest for now you uninstall Skype and restart the computer. Skype can be reinstalled later if you find it is not causing this.

Restart after any software is uninstalled. Then verify the game files once again, and then try to play again.

What is that SynTPEnh service for ?
Ugh.... I uninstalled skype, disabled avast, and nothing is working out.

See, this is what I am talking about.....

What you needed to reply with is...

"I have uninstalled Skype, disabled Avast, and then restarted my computer. I then logged into my Steam account and verified the game files for the game once more. Then launched the game from my Steam library and then...(further description here)"

That way, we know what you are doing, and that you are doing it correctly, please.

Alright. I uninstalled skype, disabled Avast, I verified the game files and im about to hit play again....

Are you sure that all the error message says is "Steam - Error" ? That is what I searched for in the game fourm, and linked above here.

Again, I am surprised that you are still missing a step here.

Read that again very carefully please. And you never answered my questions above about those processes and what they are for. You don't have to answer, but you have to be aware of them if they are affecting the error you have.

And for the steps, this is what I did.

Disabled avast, Uninstalled Skype, Restarted my pc, varified files, Hit play, nothing is showing up but it says Terraria is running.

Now, what about the game forum link you just quoted above in my post. Have you looked there for possible suggestions ? I will do the same now as well.

You should not be hitting "no" for a UAC message after launching the game from Steam. Just to put that out there. And I am sorry but, you said you disabled Avast before, and then in your msconfig shots it was still running as a process. Are you sure that is disabled and any other processes of Avast are also disabled ?

Very well, and please excuse me but that had to be clarified. Thanks.

What about your firewall settings ? Are you sure they are allowing Steam fully through and games as well ?

Do you have your GPU drivers up to date fully ? What is your GPU on that computer ?

Firewall is allowing Steam and Terraria.


I just updated a TON of GPUS im about to try and run Terraria again.
