AUTUMN SALE REFUND
Bought LFD2 a few days ago for full price, played it about 6 hours.
Autumn sale happens, it's now 2 dollars, and steam won't let me refund it so i can pay 2 dollars instead of 20. Repeatedly requested a refund and even pleaded on the messages explaining the situation. I get emails 2 minutes after i send the request telling me to go kick rocks. Can anyone help or is this the extent of the support steam gives its customers? I would get in touch with someone who actually works there, say a customer service rep or literally anything, but conveniently there's no such thing. HELP!

You are 200% over the refund time limit. Its that simple. You dont have the right for a refund anymore.
Does not matter that the game is now cheaper. When you bought it you were ok with the price at that moment. Of course it sucks that it was discounted right after but that gives you no special right to a refund outside the limit.
And some Steam Support member DID look at your request. Just because you get canned responses does not mean it was a robot. They just dont have time to answer everyone with a personal message. They get a few thousand requests a day.

So suck it up and move on.

If you care about sales, dont buy games unless on sale. Works great!

If you know that a sale will be coming soon, don't buy a game until the sale starts - https://www.whenisthenextsteamsale.com/
Steam doesn't have any lowest-price guarantee or price matching.

Nothing is broken. You don't need any "support". Everything is working exactly as it is supposed to.

You not liking the answer does not equal the lack of support. You played the game too long. That's it. There is no qualifying factor that overrides the playtime rule. Not even for a game going further on sale, or just on sale.
The original requirements are still in place, no matter the reason you want to refund.
This is a primary reason why the system needs to be automated, aside from the fact they don't have time to give personalized responses. Having a huge amount of customers, and the same response being given, just makes more sense as that is fast and easy and fits better into an automated system.

People that have actual account issues are more in need of actual support. Having too much playtime on a game and using the refund system properly does not require support's attention.

They can focus their time to better use with others that have account problems where actual "support" is needed.

No means no, if you see it in flashing letters on a big sign or in a message as you have seen...multiple times now. Please, stop asking.

It should not need to be explained how people would abuse that system if just any excuse could be made up and submitted as a reason for "special exceptions" to be made. Sadly, people would do this, and have shown here that they would by what we have seen in the many threads before your's here now.

Playtime on the profile is what matters. As well as time owned. After that, it goes case-by-case.
229,696 refund requests in the last 24 hours:
http://store.steampowered.com/stats/support
~9.570 refund requests per hour
~160 refund requests per minute
~3 refund requests per second

Even with the partially automated system it takes quite a bit of manpower to overcome such an amount of tickets. And they still manage an average response time of 49.00 minutes to 1.51 hours.

Wow, I am not sure which stat to be more amazed at. That is a huge amount of refund requests. And response time is much better with the new system.

Your issue is that you don't want to accept their answer. You got one, your request was denied. You are outside the boundaries for a guaranteed refund. They looked at your request and said no.
Deal with it.
Not getting the answer you wanted does not mean that Support is bad, evil, or incompetent.

I understand the issue but unfortunately the only thing you can do is try to contact steam and see if they can sort it out, but most likely they won’t as you have played it for over 2 hours
Not really sure what needs to be "sorted out". The playtime is clearly visible on the account, from Valve's end. And our end, in cases where the profile is not private/friend's only.

There is no "Issue to sort out". Over 2 hours and/or 14 days...case by case.

Under 2 hours AND 14 days...refund request granted. It's just that simple.
kinda sneaky if you ask me. there's no official schedule for when sales are going to be, and whats going to be on sale, if anything. i am not the only one, i'm sure there's many many more people that just bought a game that is massively discounted for the sale. and even if they have 5 minutes over the hour limit, and that specific game is 90 percent off, they're just told to pound sand. i don't like the way they do business. it's basically a "gotcha" moment from steam where they're just taking the money and running. Now i know a lot of you die hard steam fans are going to pop a blood vessel when you read this, and that's fine, but try and look at it from someone who just started out on steam and is starting to buy games. the only thing i've learned from this is no matter how bad i want a game, wait until it goes on sale, or else i may lose out big. and in the end, it only hurt steam, cause they lose money on the sale, and if it doesn't go on sale, i might not buy it at all.
The Summer, Autumn and Winter sales are a given. Save up for them.
