Dell Inspiron 7559 = Steam Client Issues?
So I just installed the Steam client on a brand new Dell Inspiron 7559. However, I've been having some serious issues with said client. Every time the client launches, it starts updating, but then I get the message "Steam failed to apply update, reverting...". I cannot navigate anywhere within the client except for my library (the other pages will not load). When I try to install my games, Steam won't create a desktop or start menu shortcut. I can't delete my download cache within the client without the message "The Steam service component is not working properly on this computer", but Steam won't let me install it! I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, disabling my antivirus, excluding all Steam files and folders from my antivirus, running a memory diagnostics test, and checking for errors on my hard disk (there are none!).

I've heard the Dell Inspiron 7559 and Steam don't play nicely together. Is this true? Has anyone experienced these problems? And does anyone have a fix? This is driving me insane!

Start your system in safe mode (obviously with networking) and install Steam then. Does it work properly then?

It has nothing to do with the computer model, no. Do what the good Reboot said first. That is a good test to perform to see maybe where the problem is.

First of all, it's a brand new PC...
Update the OS via Windows Updates until no updates are left.
Then, get rid of the OEM Drivers and get all official ones.
If need help with Drivers, post a CPU-Z Validation and I'll link all the Drivers.

Install Steam to C:\Steam
Then launch your Anti-Virus, add C:\Steam to the Exclusion listing.
When finished, right click the Desktop Shortcut for Steam > Run As Admin
