New Steam Update causing my fan to turn on and off every 3 seconds
Just Updated Steam to the latest version and now whenever steam is open my motherboard fan switches on and off every 3 seconds and the only way to stop it is to turn steam off, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling steam but this hasn't changed anything, please help.

This is also effecting my machine, very irritating. Any feedback as to how to stop this short of closing steam?
Exact same thing. Anyone having any luck?
Have a friend with the exact same issues. He's using an Alienware PC. Anyone else here using Alienware PC?

Speccy (free) will tell you stuff like this:
Manufacturer ASRock
Model Z77 Extreme4 (CPUSocket)
Version To Be Filled By O.E.M.
Chipset Vendor Intel
Chipset Model Ivy Bridge
Chipset Revision 09
Southbridge Vendor Intel
Southbridge Model Z77

Safe site, as with all free software, go through installation and untick any extras you don't need.

Yup, Alienware. Maybe it's sending some extra commands to the fan controller?

a motherboard has fans man i must be buying the wrong ones, what motherboard has fans so i can be fully air cooled? unless you mean the cpu/case fans.

anyways op fans will spin louder/faster if they needed as far as i know to keep the system cooled there are things to turn them down google speedfan(i use this to turn them down)

Same thing happening to my PC, and yes Alienware
yeah, alienware here too. tried to find a solution on my lunch break, some people have said updating the... fml, I forget what it was called. Control Center or somesuch, from Dell's website for Alienware, helped them.
I tried, it did not help me. I'm on Win8.1, believe I'm a bit of an outlier with the OS though so unique problems are kinda my bag :(
THIS IS SO ANNOYING. It started yesterday, actually kept me awake for a while and I just shut it all down. I haven't slept with my computer turned off since... well whenever the last power outage happened :(
