You can try, but if they say no, then that's it.

Doesn't mean they'll say yes.

Let's make a quick list of known exceptions to the refund policy:

The "No Man's Sky" incident. - These exceptions were allowed because the developer outright lied about the game's content and misled people when selling the game. Valve granted exceptions to the refund policy because by the time people found out they hasn't been sold what they were promised, they fell outside of the standard refund period.

The "Bioshock Infinite" incident. - Not really an incident as much as it was a single case. This happened well before the existing refund policy (back when the policy was a simple NO REFUND policy). Someone bought Bioshock Infinite but upon reaching the forced baptism scene early in the gamze they were unwilling to proceed as they felt it went against their deeply held beliefs. Valve made an exception in their case and authorized the refund.

The Batman Arkham Knight incident, the game was so glitchy that the publisher authorized Valve to issue refunds to anyone.

And those are really the only 3 I've heard of. Every time someone claims that there are others, they always seem to be totally unable to give any more details beyond "someone said that they once saw in a thread that someone's brother's friend once thought he saw a user say it can happen."

So, now that you've seen this list, let's make a short list of only a small number of things known to not be granted exceptions:

"I forgot the game was running and let it run for more than 2 hours but I totally only played for 2 minutes."
"I forgot to request the refund until after the 14 day period."
"I canceled my refund request because I was impatient and then made a new one at a time when I no longer qualified for a refund."
"I simply played more than 2 hours."
"I didn't know the policy."
"I have made the same request 3 times already and am making the same request again even though I have already been denied."

Now, you can see these 2 lists are very different. The exception list contains cases which are, well, exceptional, or where Valve was specifically instructed to issue the refunds by the publisher. The denied list is not.

You are mistaken on the no mans sky refund, Some refunds were given by mistake and valve were quick to put a message on the sales page stating the normal refund policy was still in effect.

Batman Arkham Knight was a refund for any amount of time played and was an open refund offer for several weeks.

Thank you. You explain well. Seems there is no chance for me to refund =[

I'm going to give you a challenge here. Please do one of these 2 tasks:

1: Provide a single sourced case of someone who was granted an exception when they did not qualify (not counting any of the special cases I listed above).

2: Stop encouraging people to spam the refund system with requests for refunds they do not qualify for.

I actually covered what you said in my post already.

Every time someone claims that there are others, they always seem to be totally unable to give any more details beyond "someone said that they once saw in a thread that someone's brother's friend once thought he saw a user say it can happen."

So either back it up or shut it up.

1. I am an exception. I had a game refunded despite the purchase being 3 or so weeks old, that wasn't No Man's Sky nor Arkham Knight. Additionally, I base my statements on Valve's own words. What do you base your statemens on? That said, do you have to be so vitriolic? Can't you be a tad more polite?

Just adding my opinion but the fact is that it is written that refunds can only be done if no longer than 2 weeks I believe and only if you didn't play more than 2 hours on the game you refund.
