Lotta Glitched trophies on Steam

Love doing a goal over and over again just for the trophy to not activate.
Its not just 1 game either, its a lot of games I own, some unlock, some dont, never happened like this on 360 or PSN.
So why? Why is your trophy feature broken? Why Can't I unlock some trophies? Is steam going on a downward spiral and just dont care?

Good for you, I have several games that wont unlock trophies, dunno why... Maybe its cuz I play offline and wont shell out tons of money for broadband, like every gaming publisher wants now.

Developers usually tailor their achievements to unlock with server verification through Steam so you'd have to be online to earn them live. Most games achievements should unlock the next time you launch the game when online but some wont even retroactively unlock. This is the fault of the developer and the way they've implemented such things and complaints should be directed through each game forum.

Seriously, I was online, and I've been online for other trophies that wont unlock, mainly in the Final Fantasy games. I paid money for these games and trophies wont unlock, only when they want to, and not many.

Well, I guess that's it, developers did it, sorry I like steam, but I dont like wasting hours of my time for a goal that doesn't even exist.

No I play offline sometimes, and the trophie in question i did try to unlock online, and I did it and nothing, and its not the only one.

So all of your achievments always activate? Wtf is wrong with my account then?

Nothing. Acheivements are implementation details. They glitch out and are buggy as everything else in the game. Happens on Steam as well as on consoles.

Well maybe now, I had a 360 and a PS3 and achievments and trophies almost always activated. Well I'd say always activated cuz I dont remember one not. And it'd be pretty damn infuriating if some of those super hard online achievments in Halo3 didn't unlock.

Good thing I can retry a Fibnal Fantasy trophy over and over again since its not like that, they just wont unlock, they refuse to, online or off. I've posted it in their forum, but I posted here cuz it does this with other steam games as well. They need to update more often, steam is a good gaming company dont get me wrong I've been burned by faulty hardware in the past and I love how steam has done things, but god fix your trophies.

As somebody previously said, it isn't Steam that's the issue. It's the developers' implementation of the achievement system that is at fault.

Once again; the 360 and PS3 have trophy authentication on disc whereas Steam achievements are online. The developers are responsible for how achievements are implemented through Steam on their game. Most good developers have internal timestamps on their in-game achievements meaning when the user goes online in Steam; all previously earned ones are retroactively unlocked. Other developers who don't consider users playing offline may not allow for achievements to unlock at all without being online. This means there is no in-game triggers to detected earned achievements so they don't unlock -Client side. Other examples may require you to sync your local data to the developers external cloud to earn any backdated achievements.

It's all up to the developers at the end of the day and this is non-comparable to how achievements work on consoles.

You can't unlock trophies on Steam because there is no trophies on Steam...welcome to PC, Steam, and achievements...

Then you have broken achievements on Steam because of Dev mistakes....like you have trophies broken on other platforms (yeah it exist too..)...and again because of Dev mistakes.
