Changing phones without triggering authentication for market block?
Hey.

I've got a Samsung galaxy S6 and I'm going to get the Samsung galaxy s8+ (Don't know if the phone types matter, just in case) But I only have activated the authentication yesterday, so in 6 days I can finally sell my items on the market. But I've read that switching phones will re-enable the 7 day market lock. But will it also trigger the market block if I use a cable to transfer all my stuff from my Samsung6 to the Samsung8? Or is there another way of doing it? Or is it simply impossible?

Thank you for your time

The new phone will have the exact same number.
Can I transfer my authenticator to my new phone?

Yes, you can.

To transfer your authenticator to a new phone, you'll need access to the phone number associated with your account (so we can send you a text message to confirm it's you).

From the Steam Mobile app on your new device, try to log into your account. When the app asks for your authenticator code, select "Please help, I no longer have access to my Mobile Authenticator codes." Follow the steps the app provides and you can either transfer your authenticator to the new device or remove it from the previous device.

After transferring the authenticator, any new trades or market listings will be held for a couple of days to protect your items in case your authenticator is ever transferred by a malicious person. See our Trade Holds FAQ for more information about trade holds.

I completely understand what you're saying, but samsung phones now come with a cabel to transfer absolutely everything from your old phone to your new phone, from top to bottom. And I will also be using the same sim card, and I wrote down the authentication code. Maybe that'll prevent me from getting blocked. And if I still get market blocked, by any chance, do you know howlong the market block will be? Because I understand it's a different type of situation then getting a 7 day block if you set it up for the first time.

Thanks

If you simply transferr it as 999999999 posted above, you will only have trade holds for a couple of days. You will not be "blocked", as in having a trading and market restriction.

I suppose that's true. But I need to sell the items ASAP because a day can bring its budget down by alot.

Understood. However, transferring it is your best option, then, considering. The trades only being held for a couple of days is about as short of a delay as you are going to get in your case.

Any other actual trading and market restriction times are going to exceed that "couple of days".

If you disable it, that surely will cause a much longer delay. Don't do that if you can help it.

Seen and explained here........

Remember, trading and market restrictions are not the same thing as actual trade holds, if there is any confusion.
if i revert it to old phone again will the delay stay
