Register the card and enter the information on Steam.

In the provided boxes when you're spending it, or adding wallet funds.

On the payment method screen where it says "Please select a payment method". that is where you will select master card as your payment method.

What exactly are you doing if you're not seeing the prominently displayed options? If you're not seeing them then you're not going to any checkout screen and therefore not clicking the correct option to even add the funds.

My prepaid gift card is not working with Steam. Why?

Most gift cards require that you register them on the gift card issuer's website before they can be used for online purchases. Information regarding this process can usually be found through a web address that is printed on the back of the card itself.

If you have not registered your gift card before attempting a purchase, it's likely that the issuer has put a hold on the card for the failed purchase amount. This hold will be removed per the card issuer's policy, which may take up to 10 business days.
