You seem to be thinking that McAfee is the only antivirus out there. There are other antivirus programs that are much better than McAfee for sure. And some users here claim that Windows Defender is just fine, and it does not conflict with Steam and games. Real-time scan exceptions for all of Steam and games would still be my recommendation for Windows Defender if so.
anyway, AV not save you from latest threats - only knowledge and common sense can do it.
Installation of multiple antivirus software gives a false sense of security - NOTHING else.
You don't necessarily need to buy antivirus/ malware software, I meen its good for added security, but you can just go with the free trials for software such as zonealarm and malware bytes and just run routine scans your self to keep in check incase you ever do find you pick up a virus or malware, further more the best thing you can also be more careful on the internet not clicking any dodgy links extra or going on any dodgy websites.
Thats personnaly what i do, not everyone is the same, alot of people prefer the added security and buy it, hell some people probebly don't even like to use zonealarm or malware bytes, but thats my suggestion to you.
If you get time, see if you can download some none dodgy software to check your pc temperature, and give your computer a clean with some can of compressed air, see if that helps
