Cannot clear downloading cache?
I have tried reinstalling steam and moving it to a new folder and the same download is still pestering there no matter what and I cannot clear it. It sits there indefinitely saying its gonna stop the download and eventually closes itself after like 30 minutes but doesn't remove a thing. I am so frustrated and do not want to do something like a system restore on my computer. Thanks for any tips and help in advance.

Adding that I can't even contact steam support on my client and I always get this Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error thing that CONSTANTLY comes up. Why cant I just contact steam on the web why does it have to be on the client? How worthless

Can someone AT LEAST let me know how to get a hold of Steam support? I can find the thing to fill out the forum but you need a separate account and the page doesn't have anywhere to make an account. I am about to lose my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥. I love steam and how accessible games are but what the ♥♥♥♥ is this? How hard is it to get some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ help from them?

Opt in to the Steam client beta and see if that helps.

Also, Steam support no longer has a support account you make.

I have been able to submit a ticket of some sort but I still have not found a fix. From what I can tell I get this message that says "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error" or something like that and that seems to disconnect me with the Steam network so I can't download anything or clear the downloads that I attempt to start. I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x64 and x86 and have repaired both and still the same issue. Any further help would be appreciated. Thanks.
EDIT: It seems that Microsoft Visual C++ IS the culprit and I CANT repair or uninstall it from the control panel and even the Microsoft tool on the web can't.

This was a while ago but if I remember right I had to go into the CMD to clear some corrupted files on my hard drive. I don't remember the details but I will try and find the link I used back then.

Hey you can go into steam folder in windows and delete the contents of "downloading" but not the folder. You can find it in "Steam\steamapps" folder
Mine can be found at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading"

I did this while steam was closed (my system would freeze when it was open). When I opened it up again it worked well. I quickly cancelled the downloads through the steam app/client.

Not sure this is really needed over two years after this thread was created.

this link is useless unless you need support for a game you have been able to successfully download and play. I am having the same issue as OP where I have a download that will not finish, will not clear from the queue or cache, I cannot remove any files from thru the OS or Steam.

Then please make your own new thread about it and give as many details as you can including what you've done and your system specs.

Please don't necro old threads.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
