Steam Guard Not Working
I have Steam Guard enabled and I use it all the time to stop market holds, trade holds, etc. But I still get the holds. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Steam Guard is just to enable trading in the first place. You need to use the Steam Mobile Authenticator if you want to disable the trade holds.

@Ogami Well if I need to use the Moblie Authenticator, then how so? Or is the Mobile Authenticator the phone app?

Its the phone app that sends you security codes.

It needs to be running for at least 7 days before trade holds are removed.

The steam app/mobile authenticator needs to be in your phone for at least 7 days to disable trade holds. When you want to trade or sell an item on the Community Market, you will need to confirm on the steam app you want the transaction to happen.

@Linerax Thats exactly what I'm doing, yet I am still getting holds saying 15 day cooldown Bubble Butt | trade.tf has not used the mobile authenticator for seven days. So does that mean I have to trade every week?

P.S I have had steam mobile authenticator for more than a month. I will see if I can reinstall it somehow.

You do not need to trade every week. You only have to wait 7 days after installing the steam app to disable trade holds one time. Reinstall the steam app will force you to wait 7 days again.

Ok, a week from now, if steam STILL gives me trade holds I'll ask for more help, but for now, all I have to do is wait a week.

When you open up Steam on your phone and you click on Steam Guard, does a code show up with bars that are shrinking (a timer)? If not, Steam Guard is not enabled.

Can I trade on Steam?[www.doctormckay.com] This page will ask you questions. Make sure you answer each one correctly or it won't accurately tell you what's causing the problem.

ps. If you cancel all outstanding trades it will put your trade ability on cooldown.

This does not tell us the message that you are seeing that says you can't trade.

This thread is going on 2 years old (since the last post), so if we are going to dig it up again, maybe using it for the best purpose would be best.

If it is gold, you don't have the mobile auth. enabled on your account.
