Connection Problems
I can't seem to log on to Steam! I'm logged on in the internet browser, but when I try to get on the program/run a game, it gives me a connection error, even if I try to enter offline mode! Am I the only one having this issue? How do I fix it???

What is that connection error exactly ?

Is it "content servers unreachable" ?

If it is, do you have Vodafone by chance ?

No Vodafone, but what I get is this:

"Could not connect to Steam Network. This could be due to a problem with your internet connection, or with the Steam Network. Please visit www.store.steampowered.com for more info" when I click "go to offline mode"

Do you use a router ? The possible issue with routers is covered in one of the links from the first post.

You should post basic system info when asking for help.

Opearting system (What Windows and if it is 32 or 64 bit)

Network hardware/information ( router, no router, ISP, home/school network, etc.)

What computer is this ? Model number and model. If custom built, post the exact motherboard instead.

EDIT..Also, it is usually about an hour from now when it happens but you should know.......

"Steam is down for routine maintenance every Tuesday."

https://steamstat.us/

So keep that in mind. It is usually only for a few minutes when it happens, and usually about 7 PM EST US when it happens.

I'm using my school's network through ethernet (which usually has no problem getting me on connected, and I use offline for the wifi). And a friend of mine got on Steam using the school network, so I know it's not that.

I'm using a Lenovo. I've had not problems in the past with connection issues.

Well there is a problem.....This is from the support page that you said you read and tried all from...

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1456-EUDN-2493#trouble

Note:

Many university networks and proxies block required ports for Steam operation - please consult your network administrator to ensure the required ports are open if you are using a university network or a proxy. Ports required for Steam can not be re-mapped to HTTP or reconfigured to a custom port range.

Ah. Just saw the maintenance thing. Hoping it's that, though I've never had this problem before.

I only posted that so you know that at about that time, will not be the best time to troubleshoot connectivity issus for usually only a few minutes.

I asked for more information than this, please. Please read my reply above again, the one that you quoted, and post all that was asked. Thanks.

It is the Lenovo Y50-70 Touch on Windows 10
Uninstalling and reinstalling has not helped. It seems to be a connection issue, because I can't log in through steam client due to a "connection error". I know it's not the school's connection, because it is working for other people.

Please read the replies carefully and answer everything as best as you can. Three posts now and I still don't know your exact OS.

I see some brand new device drivers for that computer..some from only days ago...

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Lenovo-Y-Series-laptops/Y50-70-Touch-Notebook-Lenovo?tabName=Downloads&linkTrack=Mast:SubNav:Support:Drivers%20and%20Software|Drivers%20and%20Software

Is that the computer and correct OS info in the drop menu ?

Do you have all those device drivers up to date from using Lenovo's site ONLY and not by using Windows update instead ?

And also, you don't "know" it is not the school network just because others are using it and can use Steam. You are 'assuming' that, so for now, we will just have to guess that is not part of or all of the issue, but school networks can be a problem, as shown on the support page you were linked.
Issue fixed! For some reason, Steam wasn't recognizing my computer. So, I fiddled with various updates, ethernet cords, uninstall/reinstall, etc. And finally got it to re-recognize my computer.
