cant use market
Hi. So im trying to use market to sell some items. And i cant because of "No Purchase Older Than 30 Days". FAQ says "The purchase of wallet funds meet this requirement" so i purchased 5$ using Steam Wallet Card to be able to use market. And still i cant trade. Any help please?

You didn't purchase the wallet funds from Steam, you redeemed a code. Redeeming a code is not a purchase. Also you may be confusing the 30-day restriction with the limited account restriction. Redeeming a code removes your limited account status but doesn't count for letting you use the market.

Wallet cards don't count. You have to make a purchase on Steam, and the ammount is irrelevant.

No Purchase Older Than 30 Days

Your account must have a successful purchase older than 30 days, but not older than a year in order to access the Community Market. The purchase of wallet funds, games, DLCs and software meet this requirement. Retail CD key activation and gift purchases do not satisfy this requirement.

After you wait the 30 days, yes. After you make a purchase, the message if you try to use the market should say something like...

"We see you have recently made a purchase on your account, but it is not 30 days old yet."

Not if your account was limited before, as the good FFL mentioned above. That is a seperate restriction altogether, and if you were limited, adding funds to your wallet DOES cover that restricton, but not the recent purchase one.

The limited account information is in a pinned thread at the top of this forum. The message at the market told you about the recent purchase, as you seem to also state in your opening post.

But yea, it can be a bit confusing so that is what the community is here for. Good luck to you.

EDIT..Thankfully, the limited account status is a one-time thing.

So I'm not quite sure i get it. Can i just add money to my wallet to make the community market restriction go away (after waiting 30 days... got that part;)), or does it have to be a purchase of a game or something ingame?

If you added funds here:
http://store.steampowered.com/steamaccount/addfunds
Then yes that counts.

If you added via a wallet card/code, then no you need to buy a game. Any game, any price.

As you are not limited, the purchase of anything (wallet funds, a game, a streaming video, software, an in-game purchase) will trigger the 30 day countdown on the market.

While this has been true for a very long time, Teutep has confirmed that wallet codes now qualify as purchases for the market.

Oh damn really? So Valve finally came out of the stone ages with that? Time to update the 'ol memory.

Acutally, I was told the other day that now, Valve accepts Steam wallet codes to cover the recent purchase restriction for using the market (after 30 days of course, if that applies).

This is new apparently, and they were supposed to change the FAQ about that. I have not checked it yet myself.

Someone should correct me/confirm if I am wrong or not, please.

EDIT...

Yes, exactly . Thanks. This is a textbook case as to why reviving very old threads (not this thread here specifically) may not always be best due to things changing. As in my post above still says you have to make a purchase, like the old way.

No harm done here, though.
