permanently remove game installed from DVD media

This is probably more appropriate to ask steam support directly, but i can't find any way to contact them via email or a support ticket system.

I have a game that i bought on DVD that requires steam activation to INSTALL. (I know, i know, i should have read the fine print, but boy did it ♥♥♥♥ me off big-time.)

Is it possible to permanently remove the game AND unlink it from my steam account? This would mean that the game would be able to be installed by somebody else, i.e., reset to a brand new never-been-installed state.

Realistically speaking, i bought the game because it's good and i believe the programmers deserve my money but DRM crap pisses me off.

The game in question is Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration. As if to rub salt in the wound, after installing from 2 DVDs, steam still needs to download about 6+ GB of files. I seriously doubt the DVDs contain "all content and DLC" and that these are the files being downloaded.

No, once the game got activated to the account it can not be removed anymore.
Those 6 GB of files could also have been things like patches.

The DVD is basically useless; the only thing that matters is the key. Steam makes no distinction between keys that came with a DVD, and keys that were sold "naked".

Why don't you just stop the install from disk then install directly from steam

You're already downloading the required patches so what exactly are you mad about? You'd have to download the entire game anyway if you bought it on Steam. Plus since the game is now officially registered to your steam account you're basically set

No, it's just like the other guys said: The key is used, and it will never get unused. Just like EVERY other key.

You can get games removed from your account, this does not free the key though.

You already have the game activated on your account

As such you are solving a problem that doesn't exist
