How long is the Steam key valid if I buy it from a Third-party seller?
I would like to buy a game (Steam key) from Humble Store for my friend but would like to give him the key on Christmas. The game is on sale now on Humble Store.

So if I buy the game today on the Humble Store, will the Steam key still be redeemable on Christmas?

Thanks in advance

they will be forever as long as you have the code

Also, as long as nobody else has the code :-)

I would just give it to the person when you buy as it purchasing the key but never activating it to link it to an account could be a risk in case someone else activates if before you do.

If you wait too long key generators could use it or if something is wrong it will be too long for you to get a refund from this site.

It seems that everyone says or thinks something else. Maybe someone directly from Steam support could help? But I couldn't find any way to contact them.. does anyone know how to write a question to them?

Sounds more like a question for humble bundle or the publisher of the key.

As long as you buy it from legal/white source = everything will be ok

Pretty long. I've ghad keys I haven't used for over a year.

Yeah I asked the Humble guys but they didn't answer yet, so I decided to ask about it on Steam too.

And yes, I had some Steam keys from a magazine which I activated like half a year later and everything was okay. But in the magazine, they said that some keys might not work after some time and that it's better to activate them right away.. So that scared me a little and that's why I'm asking.

Unless it is an incredible deal not likely to be repeated this year or one that is very rarely discounted, I would wait to purchase the game as there is a good chance, but not guaranteed, it will likely be discounted similarly or even greater again before the end of the year

Steam/Humble could take a week or so to reply to there is no point expecting one after 2 hours.

Secondly, you key is pretty safe as only you have it but there is still that chance that someone with a key gen will get it. May I ask why you're getting a steam game for someone 8 months before you plan to give it to them?

Some keys from third party stores do have expiration dates
And depending on the site some resell/use keys too.
