Windows SP1 with Steam.
I setted my CSDVersion to 100 and it won't launch Steam, and when I set it to 0 it does, I just want to play Tower Unite.

What's a CSDVersion?

Does it mean you don't want to answer my question?

Only mention of CSDVersion I can find is the registry entry that's used to track which Service Pack was last applied to Windows. Since Microsoft is unlikely to release 100 service packs, I'm not overly surprised that setting it that high causes issues. Especially true if you're not properly following the anticipated format.

There shouldn't be a need to manually change that, and I can't find any mention of editing that in relation to Tower Unite. If you're not talking about the Windows registry key regarding service pack versions, you'll have to give us more info.

Manually setting CSDVersion doesn't give you SP1, it causes Windows to falsely claim that it has SP1 installed. Anything that requires parts/features installed by SP1 will fail since you do not actually have them installed.

Have you tried setting it to 1 rather than 100? If Steam is attempting to store the CSDVersion in 1 bit, trying to store "100" could lead to problems since it's larger than 1 bit can store.

If Windows update doesnt work then your OS is likely screwed. Reinstall it

I lost my disc.
Well that's not a fun luck is it, anyways, try these solutions:
* Download Windows Update Troublshooter (I won't post a link because it redirects to the site in Hebrew, my country language)
* Your problem installign Service Pack 1 is talked here in the Microsoft page:

As long as you have a legit product key, you can download the disc image. Somewhere buried in Microsoft's site is the ability to download the images, but I can never find it. Googling should turn up the method. Windows 7 should be able to create some backup discs as well.
