CS:GO With Linux Is WAY Too Dark
I've tested this on multiple machines running multiple distributions of Linux, and every time I ran this game on any system with Linux it seems like I get this issue. In-game contrast/colors for CS:GO are WAY too dark. Even when I turn in-game brightness and my monitor's brightness and contrast all the way up to the maximum, the game's contrast/color rendering is still too dark to be playable.

I've noticed the problem occurs slowly when I spawn: the moment I spawn into game everything seems perfectly fine, but as I move around it gets darker and darker. When I die and it cuts to the "You Were Killed By..." screen, it resets to being "normal" where everything is perfectly clear to see. Then as soon as I respawn again, everything gets darker again.

Here's a list of systems I've played the game on:

Lenovo Y40-80, R9 M275X graphics card running AMD Catalyst drivers, Windows 7 (NO PROBLEMS AT ALL)
Lenovo Y40-80, R9 M275X graphics card running AMDGPU drivers, Linux Mint 18
Lenovo Y40-80, R9 M275X graphics card running builtin drivers, Antergos
Intel Pentium E5700 desktop build, R5 230 graphics card running builtin drivers, Ubuntu 16.04
Intel i3-6100 desktop build, Intel HD 530 integrated graphics running builtin drivers, Ubuntu 16.10

Since I ran this on a variety of systems each with different graphics driver software, I'm pretty sure this isn't a hardware problem at all, and it probably isn't a driver problem. If anyone can tell me how to maybe "force" the game to render itself brighter or with higher contrast, please let me know. Otherwise, I guess I'm reporting this as a bug.

Just to give you a gauge for how dark it is, here's how Dust 2 tunnels normally look from inside:

Here's about how they look for me (just edited brightness/contrast in GIMP):

It's an issue with linux. You need to do some tinkering and install some custom packages via the terminal

Right click on the game in your library, select "view forum" and post there. You might find a fix.

Thank you for telling me about that. This is my first time using Steam forums so I didn't know where to post to.

I'm currently looking for a config.cfg file in the game's directory but I'm not finding anything so far. Tried changing mat_monitorgamma to different values but it didn't do anything.
Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like I solved the problem by manually turning up the Gamma in Ubuntu itself. Just type the following into a terminal:

xgamma -gamma 1.3.1.3

And everything should look normal.

Just in case you need help on Steam issues in the future, there is also a Linux forum...

Thanks for the reply, though. Good luck to you.
