Is this 32 or 64 bit Vista ?
What is your antivirus program ?
What exactly is the issue when you run the installer ?
2, i don't know, it's suggested to use 32 bit but it runs 64 bit.
3, Avast free and Malewarebytes anti-malware free,
and 4, i have no clue, i've tried running as admin, i've tried running it as normal, i've scanned it, i've deleted every last trace of it and then tried again, it litterally just doesn't do a single thing, not even say that it's starting up, i've tried everything i can think of that doesn't need money!
so now that you know all of that, can you help me, please? i have pc only games and games that barely run on my mac, and i'm about to buy some games but they're pc only.

Avast is a possible issue. Are you sure you have exceptions for real-time scanning for Steam in Avast ?

This is a very unusual configuration. The report above shows Apple and iMac and then Windows also.
Then try to install it there in that boot. I have no idea, but it is highly unusual that you have an iMac and Windows.
There is a forum here for Mac users. Perhaps you could request the thread be moved there, but I am not sure, because it seems to be running Windows. How you are doing that, I have no idea.
EDIT...
Steam is not over 8 GB. And that Soulfly post is just spam.
1GB HD space (recommended)
Internet connection (broadband recommended)

i don't know, but i'm trying to see if i can use my mac to get steam on my pc some how, i think it will work because earlier i took BeamNG.drive from my mac to my pc.
If you cannot identify the motherboard, then where to go to get device drivers that actually support running Vista in an iMac is an even bigger question mark.
I am sorry I have no further suggestions that maybe can help, other than the safe mode suggestion above.
If you did, that means more steps are needed. Something is negatively affecting Steam and/or the installation of Steam in a normal boot.
Post screenshots of all of your installed programs on that computer, please.
