"Phone number is not allowed"
When attempting to add a phone number to my account; from web, client or mobile; I get "Phone number is not allowed, please use a different one." I only have one phone, and used the proper formatting, so the problem is on Steam's end.

inb4 "go to support" :seriousboss:

The problem with the support page is that going to "manage my account phone etc" or "Phone numbers" only PULLS UP those account settings pages; it doesn't allow for any contact of support or trouble-shooting.

Phone not allowed means not allowed

Likely due to it being a VOIP number or having been used previously on a VAC banned account

Choose a different one

"I only have one phone."
It's an ATNT mobile line, the second most common carrier in the States.

If you had that number on an account that was VAC or game banned, you should just say so, so we can give you the right information.

Otherwise, we can only tell you IF it was on an account that earned a VAC or game ban, the phone number is on cooldown for 3 months.

IF it was the first time. If it was not, the cooldowns is longer.

Never been in a game where VAC would even be taken into account, and I got the number more than 6 months ago.

Also, if you shared the phone number with someone else, and their account was banned, your account would be also, no matter if you owned the game or not, and the cooldown would apply.

Never shared the phone, account or games.

Did not say "phone". I said "phone number".

Only you know what you do with your phone number there. We here in the forums cannot know why the phone number is not allowed. We can only post possibilities.

Then I would happily contact Steam.

...except the Support page offers zero method to do so under proper channels.

So unless I file a false report under a different category to get to a ticket submission form, my only other option is to post the issue on the forum until a better option is provided.

There is another option, perhaps. I cannot say it will help, but use the forum search and enter different terms.

For example...

"phone number is not allowed"

One thread from that search...

From the link provided in the answer to that (old) thread (which I read before making this one, along with several others), "please contact Support by clicking on the 'Help me with my issue' button."
And if you bothered to read the original post of this thread, that only opens the pertinent account settings page, which is the problem in the first place.

If you're done baiting, feel free to move on to the next topic.

Not sure why you are being rude about this....I only was asking relevant questions to your issue. But fine, I will be done here now and someone else that likes to be insulted can reply. Good luck to you.

The specific paragraph referenced says that VOIP numbers are not allowed (addressed earlier in this topic; my phone is an ATNT mobile line), and to use the correct country code (which was done).

Also you argued semantics about my usage of the word 'phone,' and then implied I either didn't know how or didn't bother to search for previous topics. I assumed you were trolling for a reaction.
