Saying you will does not mean you follow through, so for all purposes you are just asking for a refund on a game you played for ten hours.
Or ask Ubisoft support if there is a way to upgrade your version.
They won't because he can then simply refund the gift. This should actaully be something he addresses to Ubisoft. For most every other game, the various versions are sold as dlc, that's added onto the rest,
This is the product page:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/359550/
There's nothing for Ubisoft or Valve to address. All versions are listed plainly and clearly. The only issue needing to be addressed here is the OPs inability to read.
ubisoft cant help if the game was purchased on steam. you can not add dlcs to the game on uplay for a base game purchased on steam.
and he already stated he talked to ubi support and said they cant help.
I meant trhat when games have differewnt versions on steam, the publishers usually make the upgrades purchaseable as DLC.
Already bought it threw ubisoft. Or i would. As some said below you i could have just requested a refund on the gift.
"Inability to read" more like i clicked on the game after searching it in steams store. Please go the the store and search "rainbow 6" or search "rainbow six" Out of the list the standard edition does not even show on the first page. The starter edition is top of the list. Then on the product page the starter edition is above the standard edition. So please tell me how i cant read when by default its the starter edition?
As well i never said it was there fault. In fact in the first refund request i even said i realize it was my mistake in that i bought the wrong one. But when by default its a "nerfed" unlocking system version of the game it would have been nice to know.
I also googled like crazy trying to find a way to upgrade. There is no way to upgrade as far as i have found. Even on the game page on ubisofts website it says you cant. You can only buy a pack in game with the ops you want. Which dosn't help me as i don't know which one to buy. Or what comes with the standard edition.
They are ALL on the SAME store page. They make it quite clear what version is what, INCLUDING a link to the FAQ about the Starter Edition. You had all the information in front of you on the store page. This is very much a case of 'didn't read before purchasing'.
Didn't read a whole extra page of info. Yup. Ill go back to what i said in response to you:
"As well i never said it was there fault. In fact in the first refund request i even said i realize it was my mistake in that i bought the wrong one."
I said it was my fault. I accepted that. Yea i don't think its laid out amazing because the starter edition is the default choice.
The whole reason of the thread was not that they made the mistake. It was that they wont try and help me. All i can get is an automated message saying nope nothing we can do. That is extremely frustrating. Because they wont refund it i cant buy the full version. Well i did now but not threw steam. That was all i way trying to say. I'm frustrated they are not willing to help on something that has a very easy fix for both parties. Not to mention the fact that it helps both parties. Me in the fact i wouldn't have had to ubisoft and ask them for help. All the time i wasted trying to see if there was another option after being denied would have been saved. For them i would have got the refund then bought the full game which cost more than twice as much.
Now i bought it threw ubisoft directly and will never buy a game threw steam unless forced.
The Starter Edition IS the full game. You unlock operators differently, but otherwise it's the full game.
You keep saying "I didn't say it was their fault!" but this thread is doing exactly that. Not saying those exact words doesn't change what you're doing. Your failure to read the page isn't something they have to fix. Expecting Ubisoft and Valve to fix your mistake is not reasonable.
Learn from this and move on. Ranting about not getting a refund because you couldn't be bothered to ask "What does this Starter Edition mean?" is not going to get you sympathy.
It is clearly labelled starter edition. That more or less implies further editions. The standard edition is right under it.
I said more than once i know it was MY mistake. As i said i was frustrated that i just get an auto message saying no.
Not looking for sympathy, no woe is me here.
Was i "expecting" then to fix my mistake. Hard to say, i certainly hoped they would try. As every time i have ever had a problem with anything that i cant fix so i reach out they generally try and help. Not steam i guess.
Further editions would have been 100% fine with me if i could upgrade. But i cant. So that is where my problem is. I don't even remember seeing other editions. I do remember when i looked it up having like 20 things in that list that were skins and such. So i guess i didn't look hard enough.
The only problem you would have left would be earning new operators but if you buy ones you like that shouldn't be a problem.
Also when it comes to post-launch operators the Standard and Starter Edition both have the same even longer time to unlock. So if you focus on those you wouldn't even notice there was a difference.
Huh, From the Starter Edition FAQ.
How can I unlock the operators faster when playing the Starter Edition?
"- Purchase the 35$/€ R6 Credits pack to unlock all the 16 original Operators (attacker and defender bundle)."
Literally for 35 bucks you can upgrade your Starter to have all the fast unlocking operators of the Standard (which is 30 bucks more than the Starter).
Just do that. Also Ubisoft support must be really bad not to mention such a simple option that is nearly the price difference anyway. This is basically that DLC bundle you would buy normally for such an upgrade.
If i had played the game and knew who i liked or who i was good with i would agree that would be a great choice. But i have never played. So i have no idea who i like.
I have seen that $35 bundle with the ops. But i didn't know which ones would be cheaper in game as far as starter vs standard. I already bought the standard from ubisoft. Id had enough sitting and waiting and just wanted to go and play the game.
Maybe they are, i still don't know enough about the bundles and such to know. But at least i got a real person when i tried.

So wait, you're saying you scrolled down enough to see the skins list, but still did not notice the 3 items between the starter edition and that list...
