Non Steam Game in the Overlay
Hey there,

just added Overwatch to my steam Account, which I can start and play via Steam. It also says that I am playing a non steam game visitble for my friends.

My question is, when I close the game, it still says that I am in non steam game in-game. Is there any way to stop this?

Thanks!

Close the Battlenet client.

It should stop after a bit, (make sure the bnet client isen't running) if it dosen't you can always stop the processes from the task manager, (ctrl +alt +del).

Ah I see now it is working

Is there any authomatic way to close battlenet the same as i close Overwatch?
I know there was a topic about OW like this before but can't find it. I don't play that but it works with myDiablo 3.

Also, did you add the bnet launcher or Overwatch.exe to steam?

I added Battlenet and renamed it to Overwatch

Hi there! You can play Overwatch without the need to have the Battlenet client run.

Steps:

1. Exit Battlenet.
2. Add a Non-Steam Game to my Library.
3. Browse to your Overwatch installation folder and select Overwatch.exe.
4. Once it added to Steam, right click to the game, select Properties, Change and point it at "Overwatch.exe" instead of "Overwatch Launcher.exe".
5. Launch the game and enter your e-mail and password (ignore username, it's your e-mail).

Enjoy!

Ah okey I see, but isn't there any conflict, if I just run the overwatch.exe? Like when Battlenet is releasing a new patch?

This is the easiest way to get it to work: http://madalien.com/stuff/bnetlauncher/
You need to have battle.net running before you start it.

This is a tiny exe file that you add to steam as overwatch. Then you add "pro" to the end to make it launch overwatch with the overlay working and everything.

So for example, this is how I did it in the steam shortcut:
"C:\bnetlauncher\bnetlauncher.exe" Pro

If you are worried about downloading stuff then you can do the manual option which is described here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/3tfrv5/guide_how_to_use_steam_overlay_with_the_blizzard/

That file works fine for me and is not a virus. It just does the thing the manual option does.
Recent virusscan of the file I have been using for months if you want: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/12adcfbc3ce79ebd5ca3ca6e781bf64e2b1c0e2c63e320fdc151a8603f550407/analysis/1489255656/

No, there isn't any conflict, if Overwatch needs a patch, it not allow to login. So you must exit and then run Battlenet to patch the game, once the game is patched you can exit Battlenet and run Overwatch through Steam.

You can see here: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/bnet/topic/20743624859?page=2#post-24

Cheers!
