Lenovo y-700 Stuttering Issues
PC Specs:
Intel core i7-6700hq
GTX 960M 4gb
8gb ram
128gb SSD

I've been experiencing this stuttering issues for a while now. After a few minutes of gameplay time, my laptop will be experiencing constant stuttering issues which last for about 1-2 seconds and after a while it will stop and repeats back after 15-20 minutes. For all I'm concerned about, this is not because cpu overheating or just the game overall. Feel free to comment down any suggestion or a fix to this problem.

There may be a way to monitor CPU and GPU temperatures, but I normally run Linux, not Windows, so I cannot tell you the best method for monitoring that. My gaming laptop has a turbo button which runs all fans on high when desired, although, that can get noisy. It is an older laptop with i7 and GTX 765, less efficient (more heat) than newer Nvidia with Maxwell chip.

Or it could be something running in the background, like Windows or other programs checking for updates which might slow your Internet connection. Do you have any other programs open while gaming?

There could be a number of issues regarding stuttering in game.

Ensure all your drivers are up to date, i use some free software called driver booster and it's great for easy updates.

Download process explorer and it will give you a good overview of everything running on your machine from it's CPU usage to net usage - Really handy tool to use when looking for floors in performance.

Get some heat monitoring software also, even if you don't think it is due to overheating give it a try it does not hurt to rule everything out.

Run an anti virus because you can never be too safe.

-- To me it sounds like something running in the background, i would suggest closing all background apps that Windows runs as a default from a clean install, there is loads of useless stuff enabled on laptops such as alarm clocks etc that all take some piece of your performance to sit idle/

I've done all of those methods already. The stuttering issues reduced a little bit but it's still happening quite oftenly

I don't see your operating system in your OP.

Also don't see if it is 32 or 64 bit OS. Post that always in your specs also, please.

Ok..let's try this...

When posting your operating system, always post it like this, please...

EXAMPLE

(Windows 10 32 bit, Windows Vista 64 bit, Windows 7 32 bit, Windows 8.1 32 bit...etc.)

That is why I have to ask two seperate questions in the forums for some reason when asking. Thanks.

Thanks, so I have not done this yet, but you should go to the Lenovo Official website, enter your exact computer model information and operating system, and manually search for drivers.

I am not talking about GPU drivers here. All other device drivers in that computer, please. If you see updated versions of them, perhaps comparing what you have now in device manager to the ones you find on Lenovo, then download them and manually install them to the latest version.

While you are there, read up on any critical or highly recommended BIOS updates. Normally, you don't need to worry about BIOS unless it resolves a specific issue, but some manufacturer's recommended having the latest BIOS when running Windows 10.

Care must usually be taken if updating BIOS, so again, only do that if totally necessary. That probably is not directly related to your stuttering issues anyway.

Also, check for problematic software that may be conflicting with Steam or games.

This list has some examples, but there can be others. Disable/uninstall what you don't need or use.

I've disabled most of my background apps that I'm not using already ; it doesn't seem to work though. I'll try to update my lenovo drivers since I have not done that yet. I'll post the results soon, thanks for helping!

Update : Sorry for the late comment but I've tried manually updating all my drivers, but all of them are already at its lateat version thus, stuttering issues still occurs.

You said in the OP it was not because of CPU overheating. First, how do you know that ? Second, what about GPU overheating ?

Download HWmonitor and run it and make sure.

Post screenshots of all of your installed programs on that computer, please.

Sorry if I missed it, but give us some examples of games that have stutter. Even if it is all of your games, list some please. Thanks.

Temperature is considerably low for both cpu and gpu thus, that is not the problem. Here are all the programs that are installed in my computer :

A few games that I've been experiencing stuttering issues is on GTA5, Rocket League and CSGO. All other games does not stutter that much but these games stutter hella lot. I've tried verifying game cache and also reinstalling and installing several times but the results are still the same.

McAfee Internet Security
McAfee Web Adwisor
use mcpr.exe https://service.mcafee.com/webcenter/portal/cp/home/articleview?articleId=TS101331
before remove something, uninstall it ^^ - McAfee protect adware and crapware from removing by real anti-viruses

Yahoo Search Set - adware redirector, intercept all network requests, and redirect it to adware networks
use https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
Lenovo Product Demo
Lenovo Utility

Among other Lenovo applications, a lot of unnecessary, but this is your decision, whether or not to use it
i'm usually remove all, except drivers and utils that interact with media buttons like One Key Theatre, Recovery, etc.

And don't forget, most of them duplicated in desktop and Metro apps!

Can you please specify which apps should I delete? I've deleted McAfee (with the method you provided) and reinstalled it before, its still the same.
