You CAN get permanently BANNED and lose ALL GAMES in your account???
http://www.geek.com/games/steam-proves-we-dont-own-the-games-we-buy-1464093/

That would be like walking into a store I bought tens of games from. For no apaprent reason I lose my ♥♥♥♥ and yell curses and insults at everyone there, employees included. I will most likely get banned from the store and get a small fine.

But to come over to my place and forcefully take all the games I bought from that particular store (but only that store) while being perfectly legal???

GOG for example doesn't do this. You buy the game, download, install, play. Whatever you do, they CAN NOT take away the games already on your computer.

As others said, they don't "usually" take away your ability to play the currently owned games on the account, but they COULD if they wanted to and in a bad enough case, depending on what happened.

I need a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lawyer to buy video games. Back in my day I walked into a store, picked a game from the shelf, paid for it and done.

And when you installed that game, there was still terms of use and agreements. Do you not remember them ?

It still works like that on Steam. When you go in to a store and buy it they might call the cops and get the game back if you did a chargeback. They might also ban you from using the store again.
They won't take games from you that you actually paid for, just like steam.

Yes there were. Basically, "don't use 99% of the game assets in order to make a clone and sell it without our permission". That was pretty much the worst of it.

None of the "We will come over to your house and take your game if we feel like it".

So the bans are issued only for illegal purchases?

Please, that is totally inflamatory here. No one said they were coming over and taking your games away. That is nonsense.

Ignorance of the facts doesnt change anything. Those same games you bought 'back in the day' had the same legalese attached to them.

The russian guy in the story that the story you linked referenced was just banned from the store and trading.

Then why did that Steam user in the article get permanently banned with ALL his games disabled? Unbanned only after a wave of negative PR towards Steam.

Quote "If your account is banned, you can’t login and play your games. All that money you spent on tens, or even hundreds of titles doesn’t count for anything."

Read the actual article and not the crappy Slowtaku-esque blurb.
