How do i fix slow downloads?

Only on steam my downloads are super slow. Internet downloads are okayish, xbox and playstation downloads are quite fast. Why is Steam so slow?

I've tried restarting my hub, restarting steam, having steam the only thing running, nothing seems to get it above 1MB. What can i do?

what are your pc specs? it could be that your hdd is holding you down. try downloading something and then open your taskmaneger and look if something is runing at 100%

Memory is running at 50-60%, CPU is 10-20%, Disk is jumping from 5% to 70% and Network is 0-7%

Would "Clear Download Cache" Help improve download speed?

I am in the same situation. GOG download perfectly, but in STEAM it is going up and down all the time.

Sometimes it's just steam. I generally get about 6GB/S (assuming nobody else in the house is taking a lot of bandwidth) but there are times that I'll only get 1.4 to 2 or less sometimes and then it will start to fluctuate and it might go up to 6GB then jump all over the place.

I think it's simply just a problem on Steam itself sometimes.

Sometimes, only trying the next closest region is not necessarily the best option. Sometimes, actually trying some very far away from you can help.

Also, you cannot just try one region and give up on that possibility. You have to try many, and I have seen cases where all of them needed to be tried.

There can be other issues (router, drivers, conflicting software, etc.) but changing regions is a good first step.

Hmm, my consoles (i think) use the london download region, i'll try that and a few others and post if it helped
Edit: On most online games i get around 0-20Ping, if i found the regions of them servers and selected them as the download region, would it be better?

Restarting the router does give me a plus ~100Kb/s for a minute or two but then it just goes back down to even slower speed

After testing most download regions, i have found that London has given me the highest download speed (No, still not over 1MB). So i'm coming to the conclusion that steam is just complete ♥♥♥♥ with downloads. My internet itself (Google, Youtube etc) can download many MB a second. My consoles can download hundreds of MB, maybe a GB or 2 a second. So right now, i'm just putting the blame as its just steam.
Also, my broadband provider is Sky Broadband

You cant download that fast with your isp. Sky in the uk simply does not offer gigabyte connections.
