exceptions to 2 hour maximum on refund?
i bought the game elite dangerous this past weekend but its controls are to &$#%ed up for me to play, it seems the game was designed more for vr than mouse and keyboard. not only that but for 30 bucks i feel like i only received half a game where the dlc or other half (horizon) is another 30? i requested a refund but it was denied bc i play for 3 hours and 47 minutes give or take a few... i understand there is a 2 hour max and i can understand why, but there must be some exception when it takes more than 2 hours before you even really get into the game and play it, the games tutorial videos redirects you to youtube to watch 8 HOURS of tutorial WHILE THE GAME RUNS IN THE BACK GROUND!!!!!!! so technically i did not play the game over 2 hours i watched videos for two hours played for 1 hour and cussed the game the other 45 minutes.. So is it possible to get a refund or is steam support going to tally another disappointed customer.. the automated help and no contact email or phone SUCKS btw.

No exceptions. The game works fine on Mouse&Keyboard and Xbox gamepad, used both of that.

Valve can not see what you actually did in the game, it can only see the runtime, which does exceed two hours.

That game screams for a joystick.

i've got a refund from over 2 hours of play. contact support and be patient and explain your story carefully. it's at their discretion.

the game does not work fine with mouse and keyboard, the tutorial vid says press 1 to change weapon mode, when 1 pulls up your left display menu, also when using the mouse to pull back or up if you dont do it PERFECTLY straight you start spinning, like the other guy said i screams for a joystick which the games doesnt say it requires extra equipment when its obviously intended for vr... just because most ppl can use keyboard and mouse doesnt mean everyone can

if you were denied using help.steampowered.com, they are not willing to make the exception and you will not be able to receive a refund.

If it was automated, the reply would be instant, not 15 minutes later. They don't specify why you're denied or approved outside the refund window, because every ticket would start to tell the same story that seems to work.

Seriously.

@OP Did you not research your purchase at all? Anyone whose read any amount of info on the game knows about the controls, the dlc (which you take issue with even though the base game has hundreds of hours of content), and the learning curve. Ignorance =/= a valid excuse.

Then would you not have known that easily within the first few minutes of gameplay, and certainly within 2 hours ?

Anyone can just make up a story that says "I was doing this for the extra time over 2 hours" and there is no way to prove that. The limit is 2 hours.

Next, it becomes 4 hours and people want 6.

Then it is 6 hours and people want 10.

See ? The limit is 2 hours.
There is bound to be written tutorials or some other set of instructions that you can read. As pointed out already, if you dislike a game's controls or feel that they make the game unplayable, it would have been best to request a refund much sooner.

All I can suggest now is to try to make it work.
