My Steam Guard sent me a code without my input, is my account being hacked?
No purchases or password changes have occurred, and I removed Steam from automatic PayPal purchases a long time ago, but I just got a text about a verification code and an email with a different verification code just now. Is someone trying to hack my account?

EDIT the emails end with an address, but when I changed my Steam password for real, the email i got didn't have an address. A phishing email?

Didn't click on any links of course

Sounds like Steam Guard is just doing its job.

I got one years ago from Asia somewhere. Someone with login information almost the same as mine apparently entered their information by mistake, which can and does happen.

Unless you have specific reason to be concerned, then I would not worry too much about it. Accounts are not "hacked" but instead "phished".

this seems fair enough, the problem now is that I'm getting emails from PayPal about security numbers to change password, and I am continually getting steam emails for confirmation codes when I'm not using Steam at all. Still, nothing has actually happened, but I find it a little strange that I keep getting these emails and I never follow links to phishing emails either. I have reset my PayPal password completely (not 1234 either, one with nonsense words and what have you) and added Security Questions and a Security Key; and I have found no programs that could be potential trojans in my computer, but I'm still a little on edge. Thanks for trying to reassure me though

What was the steam code for?

Never interact with emails. Hope you didnt use the paypal links or something.
Fake emails can be very good.

But besides, think about what would have been necessary to intiate such an email from paypal.
And how that could have leaked.
If the email was real.

Nope, no links. Haven't clicked em. The emails have stopped, and nothing has happened yet at least
