Inaccessible E-mail / Impossible Verification System
I created an account for my brother. The email used during initial account creation was incorrect. Due to this I am unable to change the email address to a new one as Support says I must first verify the email used to create the account, thus the never-ending cycle of verify email - contact support - verify email - contact support.

Adding a phone number is not possible until first verification. I believe the recovery system is broken? If I can't Contact Support to change my email, then how do I change it to one I can verify the account with?

What can I do to fix this?

You don't really create accounts for others. Each user needs to create his or her own account.

EDIT..Unless there is a legal guardian type of situation, perhaps.

Even if the email address used is incorrect, do you not remember what that exact email address is ?

Since the old account is basically unused and would have nothing on it anyway, why not just create an entirely new account with the correct email address instead

I created it for him hoping it would be quicker than watching him stumble over the keyboard and internet browser and such lol. The email used is an email that has never been created, consider it a fake email. For example his username is "twinkle", and when I asked for his email he said "twinkle" and I knew it was gmail so I added the gmail myself. Afterwards we found that we confused each other and accidentally added the wrong email. Since the account can't ever be verified in the first place, I CAN NOT change to another email, or add a phone to change it that way either.

The reason being is that he has used the same Username for...his whole Life and would like to start his PC career with the same name.

Sadly due to Steam needing a verified email BEFORE another email or PHONE can be added, we are stuck asking for help online, as Support WILL NOT allow me to send them an e-mail through his account.

I can access the account, but since it is unverified, I'd like not to add delicate information to his account just in case someon truly has the "fake" email account and changes his password when they want.

I hope that explains everything.

But what I am asking is do you remember the EXACT address ? Just please answer that exactly if you can. As far as I know, if you can give them that exact address, that is what they are asking for on the support ticket. Pretty sure that is what they mean by verify it. You need to give that exact address to them in the ticket.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong here, of course. Thanks.
yes. they want the exact address. every letter(case sensitive), number, @ and period the way it was typed in when the account was created.

:qr:
Yes I know it exactly.

That doesn't matter guys. I CAN NOT contact support with his account until it is verified. Thus the reason I created this thread. I CAN NOT send them a support ticket, because the account isn't verified. So I am creating a thread about it since I can't under his name.

So yes I know the exact case sensitive email. I CAN NOT create a support ticket, as I have to be verified first. Which is coming off more and more impossible lol.

Let me know guys. So baffled by this "Recovery System"

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll check back after work tomorrow. Hopefully we have a solution by then.

Pretty sure you still create a seperate account for your support account, and that email can be anything. Then you submit a ticket and give them the email that you are talking about that you originally entered by mistake.

As far as I know, even considering the new system, you don't have to use the same email on the account for your support account.

So I am not sure what you mean by not being able to send in a ticket. Please excuse me if what I am saying is incorrect here as I have not used the new system at all. But this is the old way, as you created a totally seperate account for support tickets.

Is that what you meant here above ? Sounds like you are in contact with Support now.

Nope. All done through the one single account now.

But i dont see why the OP can't just go to the help site :-

"Help, i can't sign in"
"I forgot my name or password"
If we put 'twinkle' into there it brings up an account, but it looks like it's on hotmail, so we don't know for sure that is the correct account name....
"I no longer have access to this email address"

Then fill in the details about current email address, and any other information and sent it to support.

That is exactly why I kept asking, although I was obviously wrong in the details, the end result seems to be what I was thinking also. Just enter the details as you said. Thanks.

you can find the email address in the account details or steam guard summary, and no its not case sensitive, you can also just try to create the email if you used a legit domain

Why not just create the email account be making a new gmail account with the 'incorrect' name?

Account logins are unique and are suppose to left *private*.

Account profile names are public and not unique.

Just create a new account for him (and don't post the private login here for all to read!) and give it the profile name "twinkle".

he didnt actually provide the login to their account, he used a example name. twinkle was made almost 10 years ago.
Sorry for the delay guys but maybe I...SimplisticBeing, am doing something wrong? Maybe what I think is Support...isn't? Well, here is the run-down.

Alright let me make a step by step.

1.) Sign into the account needing the email change.
2.) Account Details.
3.) Under "Contact Info" I click "Change my email address"
4.) A page pops up labeled "Steam Support" with 2 options
4a.) Email an account verification code to b******@g****.c**
4b.) I no longer have access to this email address
5.) I click "I no longer have access..."
6.) This opens a page labeled "Let's help you fix this issue" with blank boxes as follows:

-"Please provide the new email address you want to use"
I enter the new and now correct email address.

-Now tell us about your Steam account...

-"What was the first email you used on your account?"
I use the email I used to create the account (which is an incorrect email address and is already taken by another gmail user)

-Provide a phone number from your account
A phone number was not added and CAN NOT be added to this account. I have no idea why I can't add a phone but I figured it was due to the unverified email. So I leave this blank.

-Anything else we should know about the issue you're having?
Here I explain the date and time the account was created and that the initial email used is incorrect and can not be verified.

-"Browse for a file to attach or drag and drop files here."
I do not add anything here.

Once I click SEND I get this message.

Am I missing something guys?
Links are removed? Well how do I show you guys the error message that pops up?
