Does buying a game as a gift unlock market ?

I want to buy a game to unlock my market so i can buy/sell items.
but will it get unlocked if i purchase a game as a gift with my steam wallet ?

Just in case it can help others that see your thread, they have recently added the function to activate Steam Wallet codes or gift cards and that also counts as a purchase to unlock the market after the 30 days, of course.

No Purchase Older Than 30 Days

Your account must have a successful purchase older than 30 days, but not older than a year in order to access the Community Market. The purchase of wallet funds, games, DLCs and software meet this requirement. Activating a Steam Wallet Code or Gift Card on your account to add funds to your Steam Wallet also meet this requirement. Retail CD key activation and gift purchases do not satisfy this requirement.
