youtube thumbnails wrong

Any idea why youtube thumbnails are always wrong on steam?
Example, this thumbnail

should be shown next to this video, but is not? Clues as to what I'm missing?

Even if the video is live on YT processing isn't finished yet. In your case for 1080p six different resolution versions are generated. This takes normally one or two hours after the video went live.
If you publish the video immediately on Steam after the YT uploader tells you it has finished processing maybe your custom thumbnail isn't in the final version. I would try and wait an hour before publishing and see if this solves your problem.

I think Steam genrates the thambnil from the video, ignoring the one set by Youtube
may be a Youtube API thing

Actually due to an unknown to me someone's eagerness to move threads around, I posted this a week ago with the same 2 screenshots, so pretty sure YT finished its proceesssing gubbins in that period. When it does not finnish, you get the gray TV screen in steam.

Could the person who moved my thread(s) perhaps confirm at the same time if this is a know issue? Yes YT updated their API, but that was like a year ago, actually longer.

It appears to select a thumbnail from 1/10 of the way along.
Can anyone back this up?
