Error "An error occurred while processing your request. Reference #97"
I get this error when either I click on anything that isn't in the library. This has never happened before only started happening yesterday. Any way of fixing this problem?

So this is a topic about Steam mobile then ?

There is a seperate forum for that, if so.

No, this is about Steam, no matter where it's being connected to, from whatever device it's being connected from, throwing the same error, which is the same one as the OP.

The reason I bring up other devices is because I'm basically doing redundancy testing.

I will kindly repeat my suggestions, please.

Bypass the router totally and hook ethernet directly to the modem from the computer, and do not even jump through the router. Get rid of the router for now. That way, it does not even become or be allowed to be a possible issue anymore.

Next, boot your computer into safe mode with networking and stay there and come back here to post once that is done, please.

I'll try that after I generate the error again. I went with the solution of 'Nuke the cache' for the browser, client and phone. It'd be nice to think the webcache was the problem.

So far so good, but then again I thought I had fixed it with ipconfig, so I'll see you on the other side of that white screen, m'friend.

As an interesting sidenote: When I nuked the cache in the client, the browser still generated the white screen error while I was happily refreshing this page in the client. Nuking chrome's cache then seemingly fixed the issue for the browser.

Suspicious.

Or not. Probably not.

To be honest, I'm humouring you and myself with these solutions, since I know full well it's a network problem. The reason I know this is because when my phone is connected via wifi, it encounters the same error my PC connected via ethernet does. On the cellular network, it doesn't have the issue, so listing specs can't really help, an iphone (as awful as they are) has little to compare to my own PC, even custom built.

Edit: As to routers, I can't see any correlation there either. My friend is over in the US using a Linksys router. Mine is....something. It's not Linksys though.

How do I actually fix this problem then?

You don't. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Best solution I have so far is in Steam Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache.

It'll restart Steam, re-enter your password and enjoy like, maybe an hour until that white screen returns.

Alternatively, the ipconfig thing works like, 7/10 times.

Edit: Clearing your cache in your web browser also stops the error from appearing in your browser....until Steam redownloads whatever is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ us up. I'm guessing we're getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ certificates or something.

Ah great so basically I have to deal with it for the time being

Yep. It's just happened to me again, clearing the download cache fixed it....again.

I'm kinda pissed off, since I now have to retype every single login for every single site on my browser, but at least we discovered some ♥♥♥♥, huh?

Note: Clearing Steam's download cache doesn't effect anything other than retyping your login info.
