New steam update controller issues

So I got a new steam update that updated a bunch on controller stuff and I use a Xbox 360 controller wireless I have it on a receiver but in game the right joystick works but nothing else does wtf I have gotten so used to using a controller and it is not the controller because I went into a steam big picture mode and everything worked it is just in game where it does not work

Thanks mle, ill try this out , why oh why steam? it was working then you patch and crush controller support outstanding, aparently i dont have a mouse or keyboard either detected .... i hope they remove this nonsense completely soon very silly indeed . hope every one can at least play something .?

FIxed it for me!

I tried that now I can't use my controller to play prey like I would turn my controller pm but can't use it in the game prey I even tried deleting that templateand went back to default still wouldn't work

Ok did that template thing and tried to match it to Gamepad now I can't even use my controller period it just won't move anything it's on steam knows it's on but I even tried free removing the template for Gamepad and tried to use the default template again still does not work what the he'll steam controller stuff was perfect before why does seem a have to ruin it

After restarting a couple of times it worked after I was opted out of steam beta. Hopefully they fix the issue soon in next build.

anyone still in the client beta needs to go to big picture mode. settings > controller settings, uncheck all the boxes and exit BPM.

Was looking for support, I having gamepad issues recently as well (none of these happened before).

Recently, and I don't know when exactly (maybe at the same time as OPs issue started), my gamepad in Big Picture Mode has started acting strange.

Have a 360 gamepad and an Xbox 1 gamepad. Tried with both. I have even reformatted by PC recently, and it still occurs.

It still "works" but..something is off. Certain functions stopped working in BIg Picture mode. Note that IN GAME IT WORKS PERFECTLY for all games that support it.

These are specifically Steam Big Picture issues, not in game issues.

1. I can't use the directional pad anymore for anything. I have to use the joystick for all navigation.

2. The button icons sometimes change to PS4 icons (??) at random, then back to proper Xbox icons

3. I can no longer navigate discussion pages in Big Picture mode. I uses to be able to do this, using I believe the second joystick to scroll the page. Now I can't do anything. I can open the page, but cannot scroll anywhere.

Nothing else has changed for me. One day at some point a couple of months ago, these issues started happening.

After latest beta update My Xbox One controller (using usb wired mode) still works, but the dpad is messed up. If I press right and then left fast the left input won't register until I press up or down. The same happens left then right, probably up and down is doing the same. Opted out the beta and it's working again.

I'm also having problems on two separate computers both running windows 7. Prior to updates both working fine. First PS4 controller computer now switches light bar color occasionally during rocket league, when it happens no controls work. Used to happen all the time after update but seems to have gotten somewhat better but still happens. Second computer can't even play rocket league. Controller randomly going between three different modes. Perhaps because I tried to hook up with PS4 support. Please help game not playable. Using Bluetooth with Asus USB ST 400 dongles on both computers.

They deployed lots of fixes for ps4 controllers in the beta: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta#announcements

Thank you for the quick reply. Just installed the latest beta and the non working computer is working again. I'll install the latest beta on the computer that is occasionally not working properly.

Problem has reoccured on one of two computers. After latest rocket league and steam updates the DS4 will not stay connected properly and therefore can't play game. It is same computer that previously was having non playable condition.

Make sure it happens in the latest beta and if it does then make a bug report.

It seems to happen in the latest beta and I made a bug report. What I'm noticing is the problem seems to be related to the controller being registered in Steam. When I deregister it works for a while then when it switches over I go to settings and find it registered and showing up twice in detected controllers. I was hoping perhaps I could somehow delete some local files but now I'm thinking the problem is that the registered file settings aren't even stored on my computer.

I'm guessing the registered option is why it's happening on one computer and not the other as both are running windows 7, same PS4 contollers, Asus dongles, similar Intell CPU's, and Nvidia graphic cards.
