prey 2006 cd key stolen
Today, i tried adding my cd key for prey 2006 on steam knowing it was here, and it turned up as duplicate, an hour of farting around with a keylogger and other login related ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, steam refused my email approval number 8j5f9 (go ahead, it won't work)after repeated failed attemps and locked down the account retrieval and the browser version of steam refuses 2 acknowledge my password despite getting it correct & the pc steam application accepts it. You gotta love consistency. best of all, after my account WAS restored, it threw at me a blank email adresss named hotmail.com at me making me unable 2 restore my account.
So what have we learned? steam customer service is an automated pile of ♥♥♥♥ that can be hacked up the ass, making your account your acccount unretrievable.
come on steam, your supposed 2 be top dog on pc, yet sony of all people can let people recover their accounts with a phone call and verifying your original date of birth registration, meaning no matter how hacked your account gets you can ALWAYS retrieve it.
Best part of all: my hotmail account found none of steams emails or acknowledges them yet the windows phone i have instantly finds them.
oh, and incase your wondering, no, i wasn't able 2 get my prey 2006 version restored despite owning a boxed copy, dvd keys and all because i never got far enough cause of the above menioned account ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Stay classy steam.

The simple fact of the matter is, that if you get the "duplicate" message that SOMEONE activated that key on their account. Hey, maybe you are right and someone stole that key from you. You will still not get the game back from Steam. It belongs to the account who activated it.
To claim that account for yourself you would need that accounts name, the email adress and the receipt/serial key of the game acivated on it.
Since you dont have 75% of those things that game is gone. End of story.
Go buy yourself a new key if you want to own the game on your current account.
There is nothing more to do.

don't have 75%? i own:
1. the box the game came in.
2. the disc
3. manual with said dvd key.
all this can have image vertification, you must've meant 25%: receipt.

as 4 said receipt, are you honestly surprised 2 see it go missing at this point? im lucky they left me with the box, manual and disc.

Nope the box with the game and the key is one of 4 things you need.
You are missing the name of the account, the email to which that account is registered and the receipt of you buying the game that proofs you being the original owner from 2006.
So you are missing 75% of the things required by Steam to restore the account with the game to your control.
And that would be the only way to get that game back.

3/4 = 75%
75% + 25% = 100%
basic percentage math.

Honestly, i don't care.
steam/gabe/whoever can find him/her.
here's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ key, i quit.jd2tbph7pdwps7ct e8
you can only activate it via pirated copy and can't be claimed elsewhere legally.

Remember that first message i posted? yeah, funny story, READ.
the browser version is inaccessible due 2 the nameless hotmail.com adress and the automated support kicked me off and locked down account recovery.

i was only pointing out that all the things you listed are in fact 1 thing according to the help page.

fun fact: the browser version needs email code verification.
problem? a literal hotmail.com with nothing behind @. or even @.
See the issue yet?
Lare May 5, 2017 @ 1:53pm
It also refuses give any place 2 put said code either, citing 2 many recovery attempts (by me).
Lare May 5, 2017 @ 1:57pm
Yet, despite this, the Steam pc account accepts an incorrect password and successfully logs me in. Figure that 1 out.

Again you don't even control 3 of the supposed 5 accounts you 'think' its on.

Not even counting the fact that you now have so many accounts who knows how many you 'actually' have. Its probably one a half dozen other accounts you don't even remember.

Steam only gives you the domain so as not to leak personal information of users. They don't give you the full address otehrwise you could give keys away then use them to 'recover' accounts you don't own.

You seem to be blaming steam for hte fact that you cant even keep your own accounts straight. Or that steam wont divulge the full email for what could be a potential attacker.

Which one of these is more likely

1) Somehow a hacker broke into your home took a picture of the key and activated it
2) Somehow using a keygen someone brute forced your Prey key
3) Its on an account you simply don't remember because you already have 5 accounts you barely have control over already

Here's a hint. Its #3

honestly, i've seen at least 2 other items gone missing from my current apartment, and frequent minor changes, such as url tabs being opened while im away without internet, stuff changing places, etc. Im lucky they left me with the boxed copy i own, seeing as they aren't above directly stealing my property.
