Slow Internet During Multiplayer
This is an issue I have with seemingly every game I play online. When I run Speed tests, I typically get 10mbps. I can watch youtube in 1080p and Netflix withou it ever needing to buffer. However, when I play games online, Titanfall 2, Star Citizen, Horizon 3, Dark Souls 3, Rust, etc, my internet speed drops to less than 1mbps as soon as I get online. WHich either results in me getting my ass handed to me, or me simply getting disconnected. Is there a setting somewhere thats limiting the bandwidth online games can use? I'm not very good with computers, so any help is appreciated.

Thank you

If you are using a router, you should bypass it and test the issue again. Run an ethernet cable directly to the modem from the computer.

It can make no difference if you can use the internet fine otherwise, or that you have a good speed test result. There can be other issues that routers can possibly cause.

EDIT..Check your settings in Steam. Steam in the top left, then settings, then downloads. Make sure you are not limiting bandwidth there.

Running ethernet is not an option for me. I'm currently living in barracks and the Navy GoWifi service is the only internet I have available.

I checked steam and it is set to No Limit.

Then this could possibly be your problem. If you don't have full control over the network, then you cannot fully troubleshoot this problem.

Try a hard lined connection on another network, if you get the chance. That is my suggestion. I never recommend to troubleshoot Steam downloading issues over wireless hardware and connections. Those should be eliminated as possibilities first, really.

See this in case it may help otherwise......
