each game page will create it's own cookie for the age gate. If it gets cleared, you will have to enter it again for that game.

I believe there are legal reasons for the age gate. i.e. It's not something Valve can change even if they want to.

ah, so the thing I'm probably thinking of is the age gate on things like megadimension neptunia VII where you have to re-confirm it each and every single time with a continue.

That could potentially expose Valve to dumb lawsuits from parents who want to blame them when little Timmy uses Mommy's computer when she isn't looking and sees blood or nudity.

That does get saved in a cookie. So once you entered tour date of birth, you don't have to enter it again, just click "Continue".

That's for parents who actually care about their children. There are many parents who don't or children that, OMFG, have an own PC with an own Steam account.
