Yes exactly. Even though Webroot was not originally installed, that does not eliminate it from the possibilities certainly.

I personally at this point would uninstall Webroot and then reboot. Then verify the game files all over again. You MUST do the verification each and every time you change something before trying to launch the game.

Windows Firewall Exceptions

I don't have W10, so please check some results from the net on that. You need to be sure Windows Firewall is not involved in the problem so make the exceptions for all of Steam and games. (for now, make sure just Steam and The Witcher 3 is allowed through)

I had a clean install in my windows 10 about 2 weeks due some problems I had before, the thing is, windows 10 come with the windows defender activated with everything. I deactivated the windows defender for files and apps and it worked just like a charm.

That is good to know, and you seem to have been unaware that the two antivirus programs were running at the same time perhaps. As you can see, that was probably your issue.

Just make sure you allow real-time exceptions for Steam and games in ESET also, and you should be good to go now.

In a different post you where helping someone that had a similar problem like mine, you said having two anti-virus programs could cause issues. Could this be the case with Webroot and Windows Firewall?

Windows Firewall is not really an "antivirus" program but it is a security process. The relevance in your thread is simply that some Webroot ones are known to be an issue with Steam regardless.

Some security software does not like Steam and games. So they block functions of the games or Steam itself. So in short, no, that is not the issue on your system unless that Intel Security process and Webroot were also somehow conflicting.

So yea, it is possible to have "too much" security programs and process on your machine, without making the right settings for them depending on what programs we are talking about.

That looks right to me, yes. Did you make the changes or were those settings already applied ?

If you made the changes, then you need to verify the game files. If you did not, it seems that was not the problem.

The settings were already applied. I will unistall Webroot now and see if that helps

Don't forget....after you uninstall it, you must restart your computer and then log into Steam and verify the game files. I know I keep saying this, but it is that important. Thanks.

I restarted my computer and verifyed the game files after I uninstalled Webroot, but it still won't launch. Is there anyone other way to fix it?

Unless there is still a conflicting process or program that you have not found yet, it is possible the security software blocked the redist packages from being installed previously.

When a game normally launches for the first time, especially a game like The Witcher 3, you should usually see an "Installing Microsoft DirectX Step 1 of (x)" message.

You don't have that yet, from what I can tell. So this is logical, as the packages may have been not installed yet.

By the way, are you sure your Nvidia GPU drivers are fully up to date ?

Have you read all on the support page yet, including everything linked in blue ?

I don't have The Witcher 3 on Steam, but there should be a folder in the game files labeled "redist" or similar. You can run them directly from those files in that folder.

Or download the latest packages from Microsoft directly and then install them.

Should be the vcredist folder. Open that and run the packages. Run them as an administrator by right clicking them.

There are two files one is 2012, and one is 2013. Which one would I use since they both contain vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe. Also after which file I choose which .exe would I choose. My computer is a 64-bit operating system, and x64-based processor.
