The witcher 3 download disk writer error (Artbook)

It's the second time I'm trying to download it, the first time it finished the download and when I tried run the game it said "disk writer error" says it is the Artbook, I removed the Artbook and Artwork, and it came back to 30gb of 46.6, I left there till finish, and still the same error.

Then I clicked in uninstall, cleaned every single file of Witcher 3 that had left and opened Steam in admin mode. Well, the same problem yet.

Any of you guys had the same problem? Found any fix for this? It's driving me crazy, HELP!

Just to give my input on this, I had the same problem with avast, pausing the antivirus solved the problem.

My god.... after downloading it second time, Rebooting the device nothing. Same issue 28.9 GB downloaded and error disc caused by ARTBook pdf :/ I did deinstal AVAST antivirus and it went without problems!!! Downloading successful :) issue solved :)

Avast did the same to me just now, the download would die just before 30 GB siting an error with the artbooks. Turning the Avast shields off for 10 minutes and immediately restarting Steam fixed the issue, and let me continue the download. Kinda dislike the fact that the antivirus didn't say anything about it, would have saved me a few hours of headache.

Make sure any and all security software, especially antivirus, is leaving Steam and games alone in real time scanning.

3 years later and I'm having the same problem highlighted here. Download gets to around 30gb, specifically the ARTBOOK folder and keeps stopping itself with "DISK WRITE ERROR".

restarted computer,
disabled antivirus

Nothing has worked so far, any other ideas?

I had this problem, download stuck at a little less than 30Gb because of a goodie (an artwork pdf if I remember well) and so far relaunch the download with antivirus disabled just for a moment was enough and all went good. Most of times it works.

I don't understand why it didn't for you. I believe that someone here solve the issue by totally uninstall his antivirus, succeed to install the game, before reinstall antivirus?
Did you tried this one? Or did you tried to whitelist the directory path maybe?

Otherwise I'm surprised a simple temporary AV disabling didn't work.

I was having the same problem, just disabling antivirus did nothing for me. What did work however was deleting all artbook pdf files from steamapps> downloading (also delete it from trash) AND disable antivirus. Doing both steps worked well and I've been able to finish the download.

For guys who still not have found a solution: Just disable your antivirus for sometime. Your AV is flagging the artbook pdfs as malware, and they are just not letting them to write in your disk.

do note new discovery disk write , is AV been caught in this thx to another stram user , as blocked content cant write it, i dont think all who has disk write cover this , but there we are , people own fault for blocked content. if AV is the solution to your problem.

and then we all have diffrent security app, then its hard to ID. but again nothing new in this.
