Are you sure that message isn't coming from the monitor itself?
The game may be trying to send a very large image to a very small screen. Perhaps you accidently put the game into widescreen mode?
Anyway thats a general answer. I have no experience specifically with planetside 2. Check their official steam group and/or their website.

find useroptions.ini in PS2 installation folder and lower the resolution for FullscreenWidth and FullscreenHeight.

Yes, is empty!

you may have to re-install the game and see if that helps. sounds like a corrupt/incomplete install.

I have this problem too, how do you even find useroptions.ini?

just search for it once you get into the planet side folder. then change the options in that file to windowed mode and it will run in 1024 x 768 and you can change it in game from there

My brother had this prolbem, just change the ini file to change your resolution.

Use Notepad++ to open the user options file... its the only real way to change the resolution in the user options file.

If you have a nvidia card, use the nvdia geforce experience to manually set the graphics and resolutions.
