why steam downloads take so long

A 20Gb game takes me 5-7 hours to download.

I just leave my computer on overnight.

Mine is through Comcast, I DL between 1-2 Mb a sec.

Swanky! I'd imagine that Max Payne 3 is somewhat compressed, though, when downloaded so you're actually downloading less than 30GB?

System requirements do list 35 Gigs of HDD space, so maby 30 is compressed?

It takes me 7 hours to download Shogun 2, which happens to be around 36GB.
THe peak of my download speed I've seen so far was about 900kb/s. However, at a constant, it's about around 700kb/s
