People play Mouse and Keyboard?
Any game that I play that allows CrossPlay I see 95% people being on controllers.

I remember in my time everyone playing on M&K and now everyone except games like CS or TF2 play on a Controller.

It's so weird how everyone moves like "a bot" it's just a term, like a robotic movement, it's feels to me like I'm playing a campaign game and not Multiplayer.

I think people buying PCs to then plug in a Controller to it?

I with there was a standardized way to move with an analog joystick, while aiming with a mouse.

You could have extra buttons on the stick and side of the mouse.

No, what you're seeing is the near instant precision a mouse gives you over the time delayed movement a stick does.

Sure you can make a stick more sensitive, but its still like playing with mouse acceleration. Where a cursor's displacement is based on the input device's acceleration rather than distance traveled. Adds a layer of imprecision that takes a very long time to adjust muscle memory to. Is just much faster to train for distance based displacement.
The mouse controls aiming. WASD controls movement.

They are clearly talking about the digital movement of keyboards vs the analog movements of a stick.

What I've said is that I don't see any mouse and keyboard players in other games aside of TF2 or CS and you come up with your explanation between controller and mouse, I know how a mouse works and I know how a controller works.
Aim assist is the main reason why they still use controllers over m&kb.

Valve from what I know doesn't have aim assist in CS2 or TF2. Games like The Finals and Call of Duty make aim assist so strong that you are at a disadvantage using m&kb. At least The Finals nerfed the crap out of aim assist. CoD made it stronger.

:nkCool:

I'd be surprised if that were the case. I know that I've been playing computer games with mouse keyboard (or just keyboard, before mice) all my life.

Yes, I have a controller I can plug in to my PC, but I only use it like 1% of the time - for console games emulated/ported on PC and for things that need analog (like driving in Rage 1)

edit: I definitely never use a controller for anything remotely FPS-like. I've never been able to play FPS's on console, because of that. No idea how anyone plays those games without M+K.

Only games I play with controller are beat em' ups, and certain other side scrollers, some 3d platformers, and twin sticks. Everything else keyboard.

I do use keyboard and mouse on some old school rpg's and some rpgs that use them. For example, kingmaker i played last year sucked using controllers, so i just played it on keyboard and mouse. The game im playing right now requires a controller to play it.
The only type of game that I would prefer to play with KB&M would be an RTS. Everything else, I would prefer controller.

Even when I played the FF14 MMO trial, I did so on controller.

Yea, i get it. Playing Command and Conquer with K@M felt awesome in the past. I also used to play RISK version on pc with K@M.

...That just brought in the visual image of a Wii's nunchuck controller.

It's weird at first, but I can kinda dig it. You got one hand on the mouse, maybe one of those MMO mice with the tons of thumb buttons, and then you got the nunchuck with the thumbstick and two shoulder buttons, maybe you got something there.

I was thinking of something more like this:
https://www.desertcart.ae/products/48300151-logitech-extreme-3-d-pro-precision-joystick-black

Except without the buttons on the base, and having it function in place of your mouse.

You know.... Cross play often means that it is cross play with consoles, as some games would be dead in mp when only pc players would play.

And of course the most people on consoles will use gamepads. (note: a lot of PC players use gamepads too on games where it makes more sense then kb & mouse like racing games, sports games, third Person Action etc).

If you cant handle that, search for a game without CrossPlay and hope that the mp is not dead.
he who is a member of the PCMR shall not use a controller unless the game only allows for that

granted, I play games like RDR2 partly with a controller but the shooty shoot parts are not done with a controller - way too convoluted imho
Mouse and keyboard forever
