You could have extra buttons on the stick and side of the mouse.
They are clearly talking about the digital movement of keyboards vs the analog movements of a stick.
Valve from what I know doesn't have aim assist in CS2 or TF2. Games like The Finals and Call of Duty make aim assist so strong that you are at a disadvantage using m&kb. At least The Finals nerfed the crap out of aim assist. CoD made it stronger.
I'd be surprised if that were the case. I know that I've been playing computer games with mouse keyboard (or just keyboard, before mice) all my life.
Yes, I have a controller I can plug in to my PC, but I only use it like 1% of the time - for console games emulated/ported on PC and for things that need analog (like driving in Rage 1)
edit: I definitely never use a controller for anything remotely FPS-like. I've never been able to play FPS's on console, because of that. No idea how anyone plays those games without M+K.
and racing games of course. racing games and keyboard is just... wtf
Even when I played the FF14 MMO trial, I did so on controller.
Yea, i get it. Playing Command and Conquer with K@M felt awesome in the past. I also used to play RISK version on pc with K@M.
...That just brought in the visual image of a Wii's nunchuck controller.
It's weird at first, but I can kinda dig it. You got one hand on the mouse, maybe one of those MMO mice with the tons of thumb buttons, and then you got the nunchuck with the thumbstick and two shoulder buttons, maybe you got something there.

Except without the buttons on the base, and having it function in place of your mouse.
You know.... Cross play often means that it is cross play with consoles, as some games would be dead in mp when only pc players would play.
And of course the most people on consoles will use gamepads. (note: a lot of PC players use gamepads too on games where it makes more sense then kb & mouse like racing games, sports games, third Person Action etc).
If you cant handle that, search for a game without CrossPlay and hope that the mp is not dead.
granted, I play games like RDR2 partly with a controller but the shooty shoot parts are not done with a controller - way too convoluted imho
BUT PURE FKIN FPS GAMES? nah
