How would steam handle banned games once America goes Theocratic?
Lots of games in the top lists on steam have themes of elder gods (BG3, souls like genre), sex (visual novels), anti state violence/resistance (GTA / almost every FPS ever).

These things would definitely be in the radar to purge in the future Christian America.

How would steam handle this?
Delete your library? Just lock the games out?

As a user should I document ownership in case the worst case occurs?

I think the bigger concern at that point would be surviving in the post-apocalyptic wasteland the country had become.
It seems to already be starting...

Don't know what all that means, but i think it means they're starting to get the shakes.

What do you mean by this? Are you referring to Fallout?
A Canticle for Leibowitz and The Handmaid's Tale, two post-apocalyptic books involving Christianity that I read during my apocalypse phase in high school.

You should try Parable of the Sower.
Its even spot on for the year.
They'd handle it the same way they handle current region locking. Some games will require a non US license, and will only be playable with a VPN. Some will stay on your account, but can't be purchased.

I don't see Christianity doing this. The people who currently hate Christians seem to be the type to push such an idiotic regulation. It wouldn't surprise me if christian churches hosted GTA servers and claimed it was part of their religion, with some weird interpretation of a line in the bible. Christian LAN parties anyone?
There are less religious people in America than all of recorded history. Your question is ridiculous.

there does not have to be a majority of religious people for the government to become a theocracy, there only has to be a small number in certain positions...look at the Supreme Court if you need an example.

The majority of people in the U.S. support abortion, but a small number of religious Christian fundamentalists were able to overturn Roe V. Wade.

It’s not 2004, you can drop the “le republicans are theocrats” thing now.

Bush didn’t do it, Trump didn’t do it in 2016, it’s not going to happen in 2024 either.

He will nominate more Supreme Court judges that remove all the rights they don't like people having, just like they have already. Or did the theocrats first aim of overturning Roe vs Wade pass you by?
No one who knows what a THeocracy is can ever claim America is becoming one.
Despite some questionable choices by the Supreme Court.

First off, they'd have to immediately ban all guns and all ways of violently rebelling against the government. :P

Second, they'd have to increase the army by about a factor of 15 to even come close to being able to stop every single citizen in the U.S

Sorry, but let's not go to science fiction land just yet. :P
Unless you want the world to literally explode.
Steam would likely not exist in the way it is today, but as others have said there would be other things to worry about at that point
america isnt going theoretical and im sorry you suffer from tds i incourge you to get help from a medical professional.

joke aside you should have ignored how much you hated trump and just accepted the time line got moved 8 years. you are your own worst enemy.

and agian america isnt going theocratic so the question is pretty much pointless to even think about. even if it did not much would actually change especially with triple a which is state approved. less gay more god is about it.

they wouldnt ban guns. especially not in america if they went theological. the worst change would actually be that they encouraged stoning based off the old testment games is one of those bread and -> circus <- so they would keep them but clamp down on the gay and leverage god is good more.

as for steam they only follow the rules they are given to follow.

guns are an american religion the only reason its not more widely accepted is because social media was all about pushing anti gun gun grabbing so they could go full communist and eu and austrilia where praised as a bastion of no gun violence blagh blagh blagh. they banned people while leveraging forgien opinion to boost their own opinions as if it was demostic.

the only people still in the eu and Australia who are anti gun after covid practically live in 15 min cities.

the uk just went after a guy who had a zelda master sword
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/article/2024/jul/03/man-jailed-for-carrying-replica-sword-from-legend-of-zelda-video-game-in-public

this is why they wont be getting rid of guns unless they go communist and the only reason they do it with the communism is because of the famine that follows.

you have to define your terms fam.
also this feels more off topic then steam discussions just my two cents though.

Guns ARE part of the Christian religion in the USA.
Always have been.

The main thing that's changed is the pivot to Project 2025 after a failed insurrection.

Republicans have already been doing the groundwork to solve this issue. Gun rights for everyone, except those who you believe don't deserve rights. 2nd amendment not violated in their eyes. Problem solved.
