Minecraft Gift Problem

Several years ago, I purchased Minecraft as a gift to my friend's son.
He recently got a new computer and he needed to install all the games again.
However Steam won't let him install Minecraft again. He asked me to find and forward the email in where the gift link was. I searched my purchase history and it is not there.
Does it not list gift purchases?
Where can I find the record that I made this purchase?

Minecraft was never sold on steam itself but a few other types like Minecraft dungeons.

You can look in your inventory and select the down arrow to view gift history.

If steam is not showing them the game they are probably logged in the wrong account and they need to check their email history to see if it's still in there.

The only place you can buy/download Minecraft is on the Microsoft Store. It has never been sold on Steam.

No, it's because the game is composed of multiple episodes, their GoT and Guardians game is also named as 'series' yet they didn't release any follow ups.

its probably a added to steam game { u can add non steam games to steam library but they arent bought thru steam}

There is also Minecraft Legends on Steam.
but likely indeed, minecraft was probably added to the Steam Library as a Non-Steam game.
