Valve isn't a publicly traded company and they're not accepting venture capital funds. There's no such thing as a Valve investor.
when you give valve money for access to something you're investing in the steam platform however you receive no dividends and you cant sell your investment

when you give valve money you have a vested interest in keeping the platform alive so your investment wasn't in vain
Not really... We're purchasing a product. We aren't giving money to Valve with the hope that we get a return on it. It's no more investing than buying a cheeseburger is investing in McDonalds.

But as for the OP, yeah that isn't an issue that comes up often, if ever. I don't doubt that something is going on for you, but it really seems more like a client/connection issue on your end, there may be something going on and it's probably worth at least looking in to it before assuming it's all on Valve.

If it's working fine for others then it cannot be a Valve problem.

It can be a regional server issue, but as Valve RENT servers all round the world they can't be on hand to police them. So if a server goes wonky, it takes some time for the network to realise that and go around it.

That's how servers work.

no you're not purchasing a product you cannot "purchase" "own" or "buy" a videogame you're an investor
The product is the videogame license. We don't buy the license with the expectation of getting further returns from the developers. We buy it for entertainment. The same way we aren't investing in a movie studio when we buy a ticket.

But sure, if we chose to use the literal definition of "invest" then we can stretch it to include any time we give anything, but that's not generally how the word is used in business.
