it just shows that Valve is full of wannabe Gangsters while hiring the most sensitive people to moderate their platform..
How is this a win? They are pointing out that the conditions Valve offers to smaller fishes are unfair. And then having an *internal* forward with "so what?" is not a win. At worst it's exactly the arsehole behaviour they are accused of, at best it's a whole lot of nothing. But definitely nothing to be proud of.
Would be interesting to see what the initial email was, as the mail from Sweeney looks like an answer already.
(Also love the whole "came crawling back" picture at the end. Totally not fanboi-ish and all completely true. Especially the part about Blizzard and Sony.
proof of what? that I don't know how being weird in emails is a win?
ok
You need a customer base to sell anything and with epic only holding 10% of the market share, im surprised anyone releases exclusive crap there. Epic game store cant turn a profit and never will with the way they are running things and that fortnite/china money will eventually run out.
God bless capitalism.
"They have taken untold millions
That they never toiled to earn
But without our brain and muscle
Not a single wheel can turn"
Im not on anyones side. Trust me, I hate everyone equally. Im just saying facts. My personal actual opinion and feelings are irrelevant here.
There is a reason steam still has 90% market share even after epic has been a thing for well over 5 years now and its still being injected with fortnite money just to survive. And even if these unreal engine games are exclusive to epic for a bit they always end up coming to steam after epics dumb attempt at success fails.
Your boy, Tim Sweeney, has a terrible business model that will only fail in due time.
You checked? Where?
You cant check because no one knows how much money valve makes (except maybe the IRS) since they are a fully private company. Nice try pretending you know though.
I suggest you research the Epic v. Apple case. It's far less than you realize.
what does he do again?
What does that case have to do with how much valve spends on servers?
then again, this is a 2018 email we are apparently declaring a "win" now, so I'd wager they wouldn't respond at all if the same email was sent today.
That said, it is interesting to compare Epic's stance on revenue split in that 2018 email compared to now, since they've effectively chopped even 12% down to 0%* with all their Epic First Run program and Legacy Games Onboard whatever-program, and I am curious if there's been a single notable outcome so far with any of their recent efforts to double down; or if it is predominantly driven by asset flips and other expendable games.
Like, even 12%, what is predominantly pointed at in that email, means nothing to Epic anymore. At this point, it is just a baseline that they've taken all the way down to zero, and it has happened so fast it is shocking.
And that has nothing to do with Valve's vastly larger and massive operating costs than anything Epic has to deal with.
Apple dragged Valve into the case. They were forced to submit documents, how much they made, their costs and how much they were taking from developers.
