The produce a fake looking steam page to sucker you.
Take the steps to secure your accounts just to be sure.
Report the account properly. Item account and Main account.
Report a Scammer
https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpReportScam
The friend(main) of that account is receiving what looks like scripted comments/responses(user? are being told, one way or another, too answer this way towards them). Scripted.
Your account is compromised also yes.
With all due respect: it's a bunch of balony, you weren't hacked. You got fished.
https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
Check ^ that link and remove any entries.
Then use your profile preference account details:
https://store.steampowered.com/account/
... to un-authorize any other device (important!); see the "Steam guard" option.
Finally... consider changing your password.
People dont' get hacked on Steam; they give their details away without 'm realizing it and the worst part: most of the time the websites which do this cycle between a fake and real login screen, usually when you already have an active session (so: you're already logged on but the randomizer has decided to try its luck).
Problem should be obvious: these scammers have become quite good at what they're doing.
Why the HECK do you think Steam changed their login setup this year?!! Not because people got "hacked" but because they got tricked and lured into stuff they shouldn't have been doing int he first place.
You were not hacked, you got phished - i.e. input your Steam credentials in a third-party website - or otherwise gave your Steam credentials away to someone else.
Your account may still be at risk. Follow the following steps to secure it:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey - This field should be blank
Do NOT trade until your account is secured.
people have tried to get into my account too, but I don't use a VPN... so unless they're able to spoof my actual IP idk what they're going to do?
you're the instrument of your own demise.
And if they would... do you really think a lame commercial VPN company with a bought and therefor publically known network range is gonna stop this? ;)
Which is one of the reaons I despice public VPN services. First of all: they sell fighting being big brother while they're acting like that themselves (ISP's have to comply to state laws, VPN providers don't), second: they give bad press to network blocks because most serious sites just block the whole deal and be done with it... FUN for those who end up with those IP's after the morons moved on...
And third... how dumb do you have to be to even believe that a VPN will keep you safe?!!
Wise up!! they're doing the exact same thing they're accusing others off... while others can't do as much because of state laws, they can.
"I got hacked" indeed... with friends like that you really don't need enemies, only recurring paychecks.
(edit)
@king.. err... I glossed over "don't'" ? ;) Hope you don't' mind me keeping this in here because.. commercial VPN is garbage.
especially nonsense like "VPN's protect you from hackers" and implications that they provide additional protections against snooping on public WIFI and "trolls".
