New UI broke the back button

The back button was very useful when exploring game workshops, not anymore.

Say you are in your library then come here to browse the forums. You go into a thread then hit the back button, but instead of being taken back to the other posts it brings you back to your game library. It's super annoying.

I just came to this forum to make my own post about it but seeing as this thread is about the exact same issue I was to post about then yeah, good work OP.

So about the issue of the back and forward buttons not working which I am kind of thinking that it's just a temporary one is kind of irritating because it used to work and it used to work very well (some exceptions were present where it wouldn't function as desired), now it doesn't and it's quite problematic or at least again troublesome in the sense that it is a very useful function and one that I like and one that I need to use a lot going from place to place on steam doing among other researching and sort of making mental notes like where I was a few pages back.

Right now I need to click on precise locations on screen that are scrambled, like are spread out all over the place and in this sense it's not only inconvenient but also takes up some time.

Anyway I kind of, again, have the trust or the confidence that it will be fixed. Just speaking something about it feels like it might get seen if the issue wasn't known with the client, in which sense the new UI.

I think it is amazing.

I did find on the forums that there's a way to get to the old interface by adding -vgui to the shortcut's command. So like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -vgui

Maybe it'll fix your issue?

Having the same problem here. It makes doing anything in Steam stupidly difficult. First press of back button does nothing and second press sends me back often to the page I was on before I started browsing. Right now the button is less than useless.

I suspect they also broke controller functionality too, ds4 did not disconnect but stops functioning after clicking out of a game randomly, requires full restart of steam to work again, not just replugging. Awful update, they should revert for a month until fixed.

go to any game workshop page, click an item, and then click the back arrow

This was supposedly fixed with a patch that was released. Be sure you have the latest updated version of the client by going to Steam > Check for Steam Client Updates or follow these instructions to use the old UI and disable automatic updates.

Have you guys tried it? It works for me now, and I'm a bit confused why it doesn't for you, like literally yesterday it didn't work for me but today, after starting my PC up it just works™
