New screen shot uploader has ruined the experience
Seriously. Which of the dev's 5 year olds designed this?

I have 3000+ screen shots over 100s of games. The new manager:

- Displays ALL games that I have ever uploaded a screen shot for in a drop down!
- Lacks a SEARCH BAR?!?!
- Jumbles photos taken with photos uploaded chronologically in the same list (so stupid)
- The photos shift around the first time you click on one after opening the manager
- The photos move when uploaded
- When deleting a screen shot from the list, it sends you to the top instead of keeping your place on the list
- If you change the size of the manager, it will re shuffle, thus putting you to the top of the list once again the next time you click a photo
- You changed default to PRIVATE after years of uploading with it defaulted to public
- if you accidently upload a shot as private then change it to public via the MANAGER, it changes it to UNLISTED
- There is ZERO indication which games have unuploaded screenshots out of an alphabetical list 100s of games long <----- Did I mention the lack of a SEARCH FUNCTION?!?!

This is painfully bad. I can't imagine which intern worked on this garbage

If i wanted access to ALL of my damn screenshots, I would go to my profile where I am actually uploading them to. Even the ancient screenshot viewing tab from my profile has a SEARCH BAR to filter my games.. The screenshot manager is to MANAGE un uploaded screenshots. You have done nothing to improve the system and everything to make it worse. Fix this crap. I expect better out of Steam

List of ways to fix this:

1. Add a filter option that allows for me to see cloud saves on the manager or not. (how hard is that?)

2. Keep the cloud files on the manager, but have them separated from the unuploaded screenshots in a different tab

3. Don't move the user's position in the list of screenshots when a picture is deleted. LIKE IT USED TO BE

4. Give us options in the settings for defaulting the pictures to public/private. The fact that I have to change this EVERY TIME is bananas

5. Give some sort of indication which games have un uploaded screen shots. You removed this by sticking EVERY GAME i have screen shots for in the drop down, then added nothing back to replace it

6. ADD A SEARCH FUNCTION

I compiled this list at 0730 on a Sunday morning while drinking my first cup of coffee. You failed on this in every way you could have

Adding another to the list of problems:
- When deleting a screen shot from the list, it sends you to the top instead of keeping your place on the list

Just another brain dead decision. Why have the pictures in chronological order, if I can't MANAGE THEM in such order without getting ping ponged around the list?!

Who tested this???

Here's another:

- If you change the size of the manager at all, it will re shuffle thus putting you back to the top of the list once again the next time you click a photo

The 'screenshot taken' notification isn't instant now, at least for me. Takes up to 5 seconds for it to appear.

not just you, i noticed it too, thankfully the screenshot IS when i took it and not a few seconds later, which defeats the whole purpose, but still pretty weird nonetheless

there is a search function under your nickname on the screenshot page

Just to add a few...

- When you click a cloud uploaded screenshot form the library screenshot manager there is no option to delete.

- There is no option at all to delete a local screenshot that was uploaded to the cloud anymore. You delete the cloud version and it's removed from steam screenshot manager but the local version is still floating around in your steam folder. There is no way to access and remove it from within the manager. In old version you just clicked a cloud screenshot from the manager and choose delete and then got an option to delete from local only or delete both local and cloud. It was simple and worked perfectly.

- Lots of local only screenshots are being treated as if they are on the cloud even when they were never uploaded. This causes longer delete times since it's going through the cloud delete process for each one that is being considered a cloud screenshot. And is taking up your cloud space when they were never uploaded from the start. As an example I deleted 50 local screenshots at once that were never uploaded before and it counted around 30 of them as being on the cloud. Clearly something is broken with this.

Currently this is unusable for me and I enjoy posting screenshots. Taking a break from them until and if they fix this. No in manager deletion of uploaded screenshots from local files, no filter to see only unuploaded.

Here's another: upload order is now from newer to older. This intern programmer didn't thought why it was the opposite in the previous system.

Well then if you, innocent kiddo, reading this, consider the following situation. You play half of the game and take 10 screenshots and upload them. Next day you finish another half, take 10 shots and upload them too. The result in screenshot page is this:
1. Obviously, the sorting by date is now reversed. Descending is now ascending.
2. The order is now broken. These groups of shots are now sorted separately.

deleting a screenshot inside the folder won't allow to delete that same screen on steam after, effectively leaving you stuck with hundreds of undeleteable screenshots with a "?" sign. this needs to be fixed asap, valve

I cant even post screenshots anymore since the new update. I get a notification that the screenshot could not be uploaded. Tried everything and nothing fixes it. Extremely annoying.

agreed, these are the main issues for me, particularly the first two points.
I sent a ticket and they simply said I should go to this forums for giving ideas or feedback along with "your feedback will be forwarded to the appropriate department".

I'm just gonna bump this thread even if OP seems very angry  in general the screenshot feature does need to be changed a little bit and yeah in a lot of ways the old one was so much better then.

Are you selecting public on the screenshot before you upload? It's set to private by default which for some reason for me wont upload when it's on private. It works when it's set to public.

But in all honesty I wouldn't bother uploading anything right now because you will end up with more problems that it's worth. Unless it's a screenshot you will likely never delete anyway.
Lar Dass Jun 19, 2023 @ 3:48pm
Another thing is that screenshots are now uploaded to the time they are uploaded, not taken, so uploading 20 screenshots at once will have the same time for all of them, thus messing up the order of them
LeoRgz Jun 19, 2023 @ 4:30pm
The guys responsible for the screenshot manager should roll back the code to the old one but keep the new visual, plain and simple.I hated all the mess the new manager did to my screenshots. I needed to upload one by one to get them in the correct order, then go to my profile, select all the screenshots again to make them public. It's so much work for something that was so easy. I tell stories with my screenshots, for heavens sake. The older manager was so much easier to use.

Its weird because the first few posted with the new update, then I noticed they were private. I switched them to public and then tried posting to public and got the error. Tried posting to private again, still getting the error. Tried everything for days now and I just cant post any screenshots at all now.
