Visit steam help page > Search for game > select the game > I want to permanently remove this game from my account, now game removed from your library. It doesn't actually delete the game from your account, you can restore it.
To restore delete game visit steam help page > search for game > select the game > not in my library > select restore game, that it game restored on your library hence game doesn't get deleted off the account, it's just advance form of hiding your game.
Desktop shortcuts. Or starting from start menu.
The idea to even need a launcher is the ridiculous one.
GOG Galaxy doesn't even work with Steam these days. Uplay is totally broken. If GOG cared about this actual headline feature, they woudln't be relying on one guy in the community and hoping they fix things whenever Valve changes anything. And no even if it 'works now' (it doesn't as you have to search github and hope you hit the actual repo discussion to find the actual plugin that works) its a literal guarantee it will break in the future and that you can only pray that some rando in the GOG community bothers to do anything about it a second time around.
At least Playnite actually supports its headlining features
And again this is the same level of stupidity as Novell was doing where they claimed "Well MS implementation of Kerberos isnt' standard so we don't ahve to integrate with them". Sorry as the tiny fish in a big ocean, you don't get to dictate the terms of how your product integrates.
And what do I hope that this doesn't magically break in the future? Hope some other random person on GOG decides to 'fix' Steam or Uplay again when it breaks? Or maybe wait months for no response from anyone?
If GOG is going to 100% not actually care about Steam integration to the point where the feature breaks for several months and only works one when random guy decides to do something about it, then they should stop advertising it as a headlining feature of their client. I would consider this false advertising for 'legal reasons'.
At least Playnite pretends to actually care about the features they purport to support.
Epic shouldn't be an issue, as most people that been collecting free games are likely to be 100 ~ 400+ games, people from Steam a bigger issue if have games 2k, or higher as notice right away whole client lags/freeze, can't do anything until it stops syncing this happens everytime you launch the damn client which is a problem, and there no option to disable auto syncing when launching to solve this whole problem, not only that, but if a plugin breaks, or lost verification session, there no way to fix it, have to unlink library to wiping whole library for said service, then resync it all back so basically a huge hassle just using Gog if have huge libaray. The work arounds don't even fix the problem either, just same hassle have to keep doing it whenever it happens.
So I often suggest Playnite not only it does everything what people asked for such as reverifying login session, it also allow you to not auto sync everytime you launch it, and has more features, including controller support at the very least if want a couch experience, and if want to take things further you can, can make changes to the whole client of playnite from how it display things, and UI theme.
Now you have 300, 400, 500 icons, double click any empty area - now you don't. :-D
(You can have between 0 and whatever number of desktop icons to show when all else is hidden. For example, on this PC of mine I have set This PC, Control Panel, Recycle Bin, Network and my user folder shortcut to always show, and everything else to get hidden.)
If you think your single or dual display(s) cannot fit 300, 400+ icons, do not worry - Fences allows for several pages of icons. :)
The cool thing about open platform is games shouldn't need to be locked to said store only, so if they want to keep most of their games in one place they can do that, if someone just want the best possible deals across anywhere they can do that too, and I see nothing wrong in that at all.
So far I save thousands of dollars mostly just buying game keys, which yeah happens to be for Steam, but hey at least make it easier to manage my library in one place at the least, but still wouldn't be near this amount of games if it wasn't for key sites like humble bundle, and such.
Just thinking about it if I bought 4500 games on console that could be equivalent enough to buy a brand new Electric Car lmao, as far I seen for deals on console games, they're not the greatest half the time, compare to key sites for PC.
Make a directory, put the symlinks in, link that folder in your taskbar (possible at least under Windows and some Linux distros). You can add the same categories and subcategories and go crazy with it, use search and have mutiple links for one game in different categories.
Again: the idea that you *need* a launcher to manage your games is just asine.
(Also how many of those 300 games does one actually play to need a easily accessible shortcut for?)
alright then.
consoles still have the problem of managing a ton of shortcuts on the home menu btw. Not every game has a physical print (i think only maybe a third or so of the games I own on Steam have physical copies - and many of them aren't even on consoles).
