and improve it

They do make some great games...but they also have many flaws, so I just think Valve should purchase them.

EA has a market cap of 14.5 Billion dollar or 311 million shares to 47 USD each (numbers rounded). And even if one single investor buys up the majority, the board has still to approve the buyout. Considering their 3.6 billion net revenue this year, I think they do pretty good on their own.

Also what exactly is there to improve?

The EA hate bandwagon is comming through, all aboard!!!

No point in hating a company, if someone doesn't like a company or product, they should just stop buying.

Fixed it for you.

Valve would get better support personnel, better server infrastructure, many topseller AAA games and some people who actually make games...

Good luck buying all of their public shares.

Too big for them. Valve usually buy up small studios, small IPs, or hire the modder. That way when they future endeavour them and milk the property, people still think of Valve as the "good guys". :rrazz:

True, people always trash Origin and Uplay but there are things both those companies do better than Steam, Support mainly.

Why would Steam bother buying up a company and then having to manage the massive risk of global physical distribution of games, managing sub divisions, etc.

When you can just have Steam and other devs do all that work for you then you just sell it and roll in the money.

If Valve needed or wanted EA they would have done something for them to stay on the Steam platform. The face that they're not shows how much interest they have.

Fact is, EA makes some of the best games out there, not including the dozens of trashy but popular franchises also. EA is older and also has businesses on consoles and brick and mortar stores.

It easier to see EA buying Valve than Valve buying EA to happen.

That's like asking gamers to be mature.

And the fact that those articles are from 2011 and this is 2015 show how much they were 'trying' and how much they care. Aka not that much.

Support for Origin is working better because they don't have the massive amount of customers that Steam has. If they did, they wouldn't be able to help everyone in a fast amount of time either. I don't think Valve would want to buy EA and I am not sure if that COULD happen given how massive EA is. It just wouldn't be in their interests.

Do they? Assuming the majority of the shares is actually on the market, if I buy 51% then I own 51%. At the next opportunity I can just replace "the board"... assuming it's simple majority votes. If it's not, then I just need to buy more shares :-)

What happens in the cases that you are referring to is that the board advises shareholders to accept or reject the deal. However, they have no power over the shareholders, and each of them decides on their own.

Of course, market cap doesn't really apply. Once the market notices that I'm buying huge numbers of shares, the price will go up.
