They do make some great games...but they also have many flaws, so I just think Valve should purchase them.
Also what exactly is there to improve?
Valve would get better support personnel, better server infrastructure, many topseller AAA games and some people who actually make games...
When you can just have Steam and other devs do all that work for you then you just sell it and roll in the money.
If Valve needed or wanted EA they would have done something for them to stay on the Steam platform. The face that they're not shows how much interest they have.

It easier to see EA buying Valve than Valve buying EA to happen.
That's like asking gamers to be mature.
So does Valve, your point is??
And the fact that those articles are from 2011 and this is 2015 show how much they were 'trying' and how much they care. Aka not that much.
Do they? Assuming the majority of the shares is actually on the market, if I buy 51% then I own 51%. At the next opportunity I can just replace "the board"... assuming it's simple majority votes. If it's not, then I just need to buy more shares :-)
What happens in the cases that you are referring to is that the board advises shareholders to accept or reject the deal. However, they have no power over the shareholders, and each of them decides on their own.
Of course, market cap doesn't really apply. Once the market notices that I'm buying huge numbers of shares, the price will go up.
